This move is very good, and fucking about time! Some things should NOT be privacy based, because these services like Klarna might work for you, but they are destroying lifes for some who cant manage these kind of things.

They need to be accountable, and they cant if the dont get any information at all.

If you want the most privacy - which doesnt exists anyway, because VISA/Mastercard, Apple or Google Pay and your bank already has it - pay with cash.

This move by the EU is great. Dont act like you had privacy before the 20th of november anyway.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

This could have been a great article if they didnt have to bring cables into this.

If I could use a cable, I would. I fucking know that it's more reliable. But what the hell other than a PC, home server or a TV-box can smash a cable in?

I just wanted to learn about WiFi 8. It's relevant.

The idea of AI is not the problem. It's the execution. Both in it's used wrong and that the people wont benefit.

If we could all leave work 2 hours earlier because of enhanced production, we would all fight for this shit.

    But that's not gonna happen.

You can meassure social media manipulation. View number information can both be scraped and looked at manually.

They might lie now and faking those numbers, as you suggested, "how honest would you be".

But the first hours didnt lie.

Yeah, it's very possible! And I firmly believe that you would need to bring these features for broad adoption.

It would require a server and open source software. You dont need anything crazy for it.

Most of the software already exists. You only need to put them together.

I 100% agree. But it didnt work like it does today.

You could not collab, because the software wasnt build to take advantage of shared drives, which will bring back all the following issues as before.

Best case is open source software with the same funtionality as Docs or Word, but you can hook it up to any servers at setup.

Build a Wireguard VPN inside the programs for making it just as easy for the masses to use them.

I dont want the "cloud". I just want the same productivity.

I remember one of the arguments against EV's were that "there's so few chargers compared to gas".

And then you realise that chargers are literally at homes, workplaces, parking lots and ALSO at gas stations.

Which makes speed less important. The headline is spot on.

Chat Control didnt pass - they didnt even vote because they were afraid the result would be embarassing.

And we got told so many times, that EU now wants Chat Control. But it was a big fat lie.

EU is a democracy with different opinions, and when a small group of facists tries to read your chats, it does not represent the EU opinion.

But the whole media got you thinking so. Proving even on Lemmy, you and me are extremly prone to propaganda.

I quoted the article here with the news:

In a major breakthrough for the digital rights movement, the German government has refused to back the EU’s controversial Chat Control regulation yesterday after facing massive public pressure.

The government did not take a position on the proposal.

This blocks the required majority in the EU Council, derailing the plan to pass the surveillance law next week.
