Obviously the death penalty is a cruel, medieval, outdated punishment, which is against humanity, as every halfway intelligent person will agree. At the same time, murdering someone is against the law in any country, and should be punished (jail), whatever the motivation. Those people that support Luigi will probably put forward that his victim was responsible for numerous deaths, but we do not live in societies that condone lynch justice, there are definitely other and better ways to express or push political opinions.

A few weeks ago I asked (here) a question about composing an opera. It is progressing (especially since a few AI-savvy “lemmings” are now helping with composing). In my proposed act one, Golda and Yasser meet and fall in love, it is set on the West Bank, so an intercultural love story.  In act 2, a terrible fight breaks out between the families, with dramatic librettos by the four parents. (Drama and politically relevant). Golda’s drunk grandfather offers some comic relieve. In the third and final act, things will start to collapse. War breaks out, Yasser turns out to be 47 (whereas Golda is just 18) and he visits kinky websites. As the tension heightens, Golda sticks a knife into Yasser and he dies singing her favorite aria “Mia Bella Fiore.” Curtain.  Question: should I flip this around, and replace Yasser by a Hannah (a still attractive 50-something), and Golda by Mahmut (a 16 yo leatherjacket motor boy)? What would work the best? It should all be politically correct too.
