Yes. Also, pub quizzes are a thing. I've met half of my friends on different kinds of pub trivia things.
I did SMILE couple months back, don't know what you guys are talking about. No burned eye smell, only a couple of seconds of blindness in one eye, go home, sleep, no pain afterwards. Didn't hear much either, despite the doc clearly moving a metallic object under my cornea
I was, indeed, seeing subpar and blurry for a month, but now it's okay.
Might be wrong about this, but don't they implant a supportive ring for keratoconus?
I go to a bar whenever I'm in another city, easiest way to make quick acquaintances and get the vibe for the place. Heck, I'm drinking less now, so I'd get a non-alcoholic or a mocktail and still have a decent time. It's not about drinking.
In theory, all linguistics are descriptive, no gods, no masters, but in reality rules exist to avoid confusion and by disrespecting the order you risk confusing the listener by implying that some combo of adj + noun exists as a seprate term when it doesn't
Oh, no, it's wrong grammatically too, they just don't teach this unless you study linguistics. Most of all languages with fixed word order and some others have a natural order of adjectives. Tom Scott has a great vid about it.
Yes, Russian has an adjective order too. “A big old blue car” would be «большая старая синяя машина», saying «синяя большая старая машина» implies that “big old car” is a specific term.
This. As a non-smoker, I started purposefully seeking cafés where smoking is allowed cause that would mean no small children around
That's the whole point, you know damn well when it's weird, if one can't name a single weird fact about yourself, you're not the target audience
What's specifically asinine about it? Are you implying that bringing it up could've been better if it'd happened more often?
I have just made you aware that this is, however sad, a thing that happens and people can talk about it. While I too disagree with the opinion in the OP post, you're very much advised to not try and moral police this sub, because cringe and weird takes would appear here on a regular basis and you'll be quite frequently offended to the core if you take it all close to the heart.
Please don't take it out on the strangers on the Internet.
Just FYI, neonaticide is a thing. Childbirth is hard and traumatizing and sometimes it leads to mother not being able to take it anymore.
But, as another fellow lemmitor pointed out below, it indeed accounts for a small percentage of SIDS
Съешь ещё этих мягких французских булок, да выпей чаю
Soggy is half the problem. Paper is naturally porous, so if you put a porous thing into a fizzy drink, it'll burst on the table or worse. Mentos + Cola thing works much the same way, Mentos is just very porous indeed.
First six times I read it as “abroad”. Guess works that way too
