This dude was already a deputy chief of staff and was the brains behind a lot of the Trump administration's unpopular policies. I wouldn't be too scared of him getting a token promotion.

No, that happened far too close to the midterms to move the needle meaningfully. People here have just been so sick of the Trump administration and GOP policy for so long that it was enough to cause the blue wave.

You have to have more darkness at some point in the day during winter, there's no getting around it. Arizona just made a choice to have darker mornings in lieu of no clock changes.

And to be fair they are further south so the daylight isn't quite as scarce as it is in more northern states. I think getting rid of the clock changes makes a bit more sense the further south you go.

The Enterprise-D was a symbol of life in the Federation of that era. They enjoyed decades of prosperity and relative peace, and the design philosophy of the Galaxy class reflected that.

The Enterprise was built for deep space exploration and was (in theory) supposed to be deployed for years at a time without returning to Earth. The designers wanted it to be comfortable, and Starfleet personnel wanted their families to be with them on those long haul missions.

Being a major power in their part of their galaxy that was technologically advanced and at relative peace with other major powers, they were a little full of themselves.

Not long after its mission started Starfleet began encountering forces like the Borg and the Dominion, and they realized they weren't quite as untouchable as they thought. This became a major theme both in-universe and in the real world.
