Probably not because they would have seen our tilted axis on the way in.

    You have to have more darkness at some point in the day during winter, there's no getting around it. Arizona just made a choice to have darker mornings in lieu of no clock changes.

    And to be fair they are further south so the daylight isn't quite as scarce as it is in more northern states. I think getting rid of the clock changes makes a bit more sense the further south you go.

    I can see the argument for DST or no DST. I can even sort of see the argument for DST matching the economic powerhouse a few hundred miles away. But there is nothing in planetary physics to justify 3 different time zone usages in such a small area, with major cities being on a different one than all the area around them, or for one quadrant to be (mostly) different from the rest of it.

    Moreover, there is only a 2 hour shift of sunrise/sunset from the peak of summer to the depths of winter. That's barely enough to justify the hassle of DST in my opinion.
