Update: I've tried loops, but I keep running into upload issues that I can't post even a 5 second train video. Will try Peertube next month. @fediverse

Freight right-of-way ownership is also a problem, but the car set they are replacing/adding to is 75+ years old, they are sturdy and reliable, but having more cars means that they could increase service beyond 3 trips a week on these routes. At the moment, occasional breakdowns and maintenance periods mean they face long distance equipment shortages sometimes.@ryper @radish6367

PM Carney announces investment in Via Rail locomotives and rail carspm.gc.ca/en/news/news-releasesAre we going to get the Stadler (Vossloh) EURO assembled in Canada, or a new North America-specific design? I wasn't expecting new locos to be anything other than more Siemens Chargers.#trains #viarail @trains

Did you know Via Rail has a fleet of British Rail Gauge train cars? They obtained them from a failed sleeper service through the Chunnel in the 90s. I rode with them on the Montréal to Halifax rail service called The Ocean. Part of a big rail journey I took this summer across eastern Canada and Europe.@rail #trains #railways #viarail #halifax

Loops vs. PeerTube for video hostHey friends, I'm thinking of starting up an ActivityPub compatible server to host and share my own train videos with the Fediverse, and wondering: Of the two video-oriented softwares, which would be a better fit for my use case and easier to work with? The videos would be between 15 seconds and 10 minutes long.Comparisons, pros and cons, and your experiences working with either would be appreciated. Thanks. @fediverse

Here's why I think Parliament chose to fund the NDP despite no official status...I think it's because the Conservatives and BQ know that a two party-system would become a 1.75-party one in reality, giving the Liberals lasting power at their own expense. The Terrebonne and other byelections make that quite clear. We need a space for Canada's left flank. And an end to FPTP.#cdnpoli #NDP #BlocQuebecois #Canada #Liberal @canadapolitics

I think I found a rough barometer to measure how upbeat or relaxed a major city is.Look at the speed of the information scrolling or changing on next stop displays in your modern subway or other transit vehicle. Changing quickly like #NYC is an upbeat city while slow scrolling like #Vancouver is a relaxed city.Where does your city fit in? #transit #trains #city #Boston #Seattle @citylife

@cabbage @cecilkorik @brianpeiris There's an initiative in the works to try and answer these questions, forming a co-operative structure dedicated to hosting video platform(s) in a way that can support the needs of creators, viewers and supporters. Focused on Canadian content but hoping to create a widely replicable model. It's polling for names and other feedback right now, have your say:atomicpoet.org/notice/B0eL2wd3
