Settle down, Canada. You're almost being hostile! 🤭

See if you can reach the top of the graph at all. (Hint: I spent five minutes and couldn't.)

Because this is what the USA has always done: it is the place all brutal right-wing dictators who manage to escape a revolution flee to (at least at first). Here's a list of the right-wing dictators I know of who made the USA their home of permanent exile:

  1. Paul Magloire
  2. Julio Lozano Díaz
  3. Manuel A. Odría
  4. Marcos Pérez Jiménez
  5. Syngman Rhee
  6. Joaquín Balaguer
  7. Lon Nol
  8. Nguyen Van Thieu
  9. Ferdinand Marcos
  10. Prosper Avril

I've probably missed a few, and this doesn't include the people who fled to the USA only to make their final home elsewhere (like the Batistas).

But it's pretty normal for right wing assholes to make the USA their home and political base. Almost as if the USA was telling people something.

The election pits the left-of-center veteran politician Lula against Bolsonaro, an ally of U.S. President Donald Trump and the son of imprisoned former President Jair Bolsonaro.

Canada is making big strides toward a sovereign space capability.

Ukraine’s Starshield satellite terminals stopped working after a still-unexplained order came from inside the White House, and Canada has spent years quietly building its own military space network like radar satellites, Arctic communications, and its own rocket launch pads. I trace Canada’s RADARSAT constellation, its new Telesat Lightspeed Arctic network, and a government document that literally says the goal is to “augment and replace” America’s WGS system.

This is a great video not just about Canada but about all allies of the US right now needing to rethink space capability in the wake of Elon Musk's bullshit.

The Latin American country will vote for its next president, as Lula da Silva and Bolsonaro clash over sovereignty, security and ties with Washington.

Meta's AI smart glasses have been branded "creepy" and an invasion of privacy amid cases of people using them to secretly film women and girls and then posting the footage to social media without their consent.

A speedboat carrying 10 men of Cuban origin from the United States attempted to enter Cuban waters on Feb. 25 and opened fire on a Cuban coast guard vessel that tried to intercept it, authorities said. Three of the attackers were killed in the confrontation, and a fourth later died of his injuries. The boat was about 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) northeast of Cayo Falcones, off Cuba’s northern coast.

Estrada said the suspects’ confessions and cooperation helped investigators determine that Amijail Sánchez, a Cuban who has lived in the United States since 2016, fired the first shots. Sánchez, who is in custody, was included on a list of alleged terrorists that Cuba submitted to the United Nations last year.
