When I have kids, I'm gonna make sure the first AIs they get exposed to are really old dumb ones while I explain how they work. Then maybe they'll always have that little bit of wariness in the back of their minds, like I got because I used those old dumb AIs when they first came out.

I was an Amazon delivery driver and it's a rat race between contractor companies where if you're too slow your contract gets terminated.

Except these "contractors" have to use Amazon's app, Amazon's warehouse, and custom Amazon delivery vans. If their contract gets terminated there's just no more company.

The one thing metric screws up is file size.

A gigabyte is 1000 megabytes or 1,000,000 kilobytes or 1,000,000,000 bytes.

A gibibyte is 1024 mebibyte or 1,048,576 kibibyte or 1,073,741,824 bytes, because it needs to go by increments of a power of 2.

This would be fine except gigabyte also means gibibyte. So if a file claims to be N GBs, I don't know if it actually means metric GBs or GiBs.

Weird opinion: I like square brackets, angle brackets are neat, curly braces range from neat to ok.

But I just don't like the look of parentheses compared to the others. They especially look ugly and clunky when you need a bunch of them in a row, in a way that's not true for the others.

I can't think of a reason why I feel this way apart from the fact they tend to be very clunky in math too. They're also the ugliest one when handwritten despite being the arguably simplest shape.

All that said it annoys me how parentheses are the most used bracket type in programming.

I understand why AIs struggle with letters, because they see each word/subword/phrase as a numbered index in a token dictionary.

But what I don't get is how stubborn they are about it. Every single time I see an AI fail to count a number they will swear up and down they are right. They will stop being agreeable assistants and fight tooth and nail for the fact that seventeen has three 'E's.

The only de-gendered bathroom signs I think works are "Toilets" and "Toilets and Urinals".

If we're removing the aspect of gender then that's the only real difference between bathrooms.

So I never hear anyone talk about this, but we know how screwed Sam Altman's gonna be when the AI bubble pops right?

He has been the very public face of this AI rush. Even laymen know about ChatGPT. I still hear a gas station pump ad for a travel app advertising that they use ChatGPT, so the most tech illiterate will at least hear it's name.

OpenAI has nothing to fall back to. The other software companies have an empire to pivot back to; Nvidia's been selling the shovels of this gold rush; Elon is a cockroach so he'll manage somehow.

And most damningly, I think he believes his own hype. I think he's honestly a schmuck who thinks if he doubles down to create God In A Box™ that all the worlds problems, especially his, will be solved. He's Sam Bankman-fried 2.0.

When this bubble collapses 401k's will crash and we'll have a recession at best. The other companies will need a fall guy for why they took part in this ponzi scheme. And it will get political, so Trump will need a fall guy to explain why everyone's retirement vanishing isn't his fault.

It just seems so glaringly obvious that Sam Altman is going to be the biggest scapegoat of the 21st century. He will be targeted worse than Sam Bankman-fried and Mike Pence combined.

Does anyone else see this or am I acting crazy?

Edit: Just to be explicit I'm not trying to drum up sympathy for him, he deserves none. It's more like this is my prediction for an upcoming trainwreck.
