Why does this give a list of voters? (goelect.txelections.civixapps.com)

When I go to this website and I choose the upcoming general election and I put in today's date, it gives me the number of early voters in each county. There's a button to make a statewide report and when you hit that it gives you a list of voters, their county, and their voter ID numbers. What's that about?

Have you done this? Last night i was feeling like making something but didn't have the brain power to really take on a project. Someone on a Facebook crochet page (probably ravelry) mentioned this. Easy, useful, quick, and you can kind of pick a stitch. I think it's written for single but I did HDC.

Since ours in the US is generally a percentage of the bill, people in expensive restaurants can make more. Do they work harder? Do they have fewer tables so less checks are tipping? 20% tips on 5 hundred dollar tables is $100 every 60-90 minutes, but shifts are usually only a few hours. So maybe $3-400 for a 4-5 hour dinner shift? In a diner you'd are probably half that per table but for more tables and faster turnover. What's a good wage?

Would you like to share your current reading list?

I just finished Never Flinch- one of Stephen King's Holly books. Was good.

Currently reading Knife- Salman Rushdie's book about his attack.

I think Catch-22 is next. I've never read it.

I tried Dungeon Crawler Carl but gave up on about page 16.

My son gave me a book called How to Live with Objects. I tend to pick it up when I want something non-scrolling. It's pretty good.

Total remodel (lemmy.world)

We inherited my mom's house and started remodeling a year and a half ago. Funding it by selling our house, which meant we had to move in mid reno. 29 foundation piers to stabilize (not fully level), cast iron to PVC, copper to PEX, new electrical panel, new HVAC, all new floors, drywall, doors, windows, cabinets, and bathrooms. The only things that remain are one window and the brick fireplace. I think it would have been cheaper to build a new house. Also working on the outside- new paint, gutters, had to replace all soffits and trim because it was waterlogged mdf. Here's a pic of my husband's new greenhouse - used our old windows and fence boards where we could.

Went to the dentist recently and complained that my teeth have been very sensitive recently to hot, cold, sweet, and especially to apples. Doc said i brush too hard and gave me a script for a tube of flouride stuff thats supposed to help rebuild enamel. Instructions say to use it as toothpaste but doc note says to apply at bedtime. Anyone tried it? Did it help?

I had knee surgery Wednesday and a friend came by yesterday with a pizza to visit. We put her dog outside with my two. We ate, chatted, and 30 minutes later we went to sit outside. Found her pup in the pool. He's old and has poor hearing but can see, has been here before, and always avoided the water. She started crying. i grabbed a dog blanket and started yelling for my husband. He immediately got the pup out and tried compressions but it was too late. She's the best, most devoted dog mom i know and she's devastated. She feels like she failed him in his last moments. She keeps saying - Why didn't i leave him home? Why did i make him go outside? Why didn't i go check on him? - and feels like she deserves the guilt and pain because his last moments were likely scared and struggling. I'm so sad for her.

It's very sad, but with the holiday weekend I've been able to keep it in the back of my mind instead of the front. Now that Mom is sharing info on services, i can't imagine actually going there and seeing and what to say... and it's getting to me, a lot. Today is a celebration day in my house and i don't want to bring my family down, so i just need a place to rest this until i can get back to it tomorrow and begin processing. Sorry for public journaling.
