I'm a professional software engineer writing Rust for many years now.

Honestly, I am very happy that AI is using Rust. Much better that AI uses Rust than Python! If you think AI written Rust is bad, you have no idea how sloppy AI written Python is.

Rust is a great language. Turns out the same stuff that makes it great for humans also makes it great for agents. This is not a bad thing, this is a win-win.

Historically, Rust's biggest disadvantage has been how hard the language is to write and how much you sometimes need to fight the compiler. This disadvantage is quite effectively mitigated by AI, since you can let the AI fight the compiler and write most of the code. So you get all the advantages that Rust brings with basically none of the downsides.

I'm just happy that Rust was invented before LLMs. If Rust did not exist before LLMs, the code the AIs would be writing would be a lot worse.

Hope that answers it.

As a counterpoint, sloppy projects are being shared all over and it's basically spam at this point. Even /r/rust had to disallow code projects, because there was simply way too much slop being posted all the time.

People share projects because back in the day, a project with hundreds of thousands of lines of code with a cool website and a lot of features were evidence of a lot of hard work, a lot of design decisions and a lot of tradeoffs.

Vibe coding has made that a bad metric. These things no longer mean that any actual work has been dedicated to this project. Anyone could use an afternoon prompting an agent to build the same thing. There is no value in sharing such a thing. At best, it's worthless and at worst, it's borderline a scam, an attempt at disguising a project as something it isn't.

Honestly I would rather say "I don't know" than adopt some random opinion from some AI bot. And I think you should prefer people saying "I don't know" rather than just following what the AI bots are saying. Do you really want AI bots to decide this stuff?

Might be controversial but: the whole Israel/Gaza stuff.

I don't know much about it. It seems super complicated and controversial. I even realize that it's controversial not to have an opinion on this topic!

But I really can't get myself to have an opinion on something that I am clearly no expert in, something that frequently seems to lead people into arguments with others and something that, sorry to say, really doesn't affect me at all in my life. There are wars all over the world, dunno why this one is the one people have such strong opinion about.

If you think choosing tailwind forces you into a certain style of website, you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

And you clearly haven't just used AI for tests. I wonder if the source is closed because you know how obviously AI generated it would look if it was open source?

I doubt it. The logistics just doesn't really work out. You can go over uneven terrain with a tank and you can probably pack a much bigger gun on a tank than on a mech, seeing as you have better support (treads instead of 2-4 feet).

Also, tanks are sturdy with thick armor with minimal weak spots. A mech with legs is an invitation for an attack. Disable one leg and the mech is not longer a threat, and again, limited weight on those legs means limited armor.

Also, I very much doubt you'd have a human sitting on the inside. Why would you? The human takes up space and could just as easily sit remotely and control the mech wirelessly, like how drones are piloted. Or even better, make the mech autonomous. If we have mech technology, we probably have that technology too.

So yea, nah. It's a rule of cool thing, not an actual realistic thing I would say.
