Writing code is beung automated. Programming still works best when a human is in the loop. We just have more time for the other aspects of programming. Which are in my opinion the more creative aspects

Let me try to add some nuance to the comments here. Mostly they are right, Copilot is not the right tool. But if you understand why you might still get some use out of it and prevent yourself from building up bad habits around it for when you get a better tool or Microslop improves it.

    1. It's dumber. OpenAi, Anthropic and the Chinese alternatives are betting their entire companies on the AI race. MS, Google and Meta may claim they do but they're still playing it safe. They probably also want to pick up the scraps of the AI companies that go down. So while the older companies want to make a profit or at least not make too much of a loss the new AI only companies only care about cashflow, big usage numbers and usage data. More money means more servers means smarter models.
    2. It's not for programmers. The model needs to be smart but it also needs the right tools. Look up what a an AI harness is. Copilot's harness is trying to be generic and connect you to other Microslop services. It's not primarily a coding harness.
    3. It has a PR problem. This one is not a comment on the actual capabilities of Copilot but rather on the sentiment in the comments. Copilot IS getting better. It IS starting to be useful, even for coding. But MS tried to push it in everyone's faces before it was any good at all. They made existing products worse because of it. it left a bad taste in people's mouths and you can tell from the comments here that some people, especially technically minded people, hate it.

It depends on how much human care and attention was used. Vibe coding gets all the media attention but real work is being done by experienced engineers that know how to guide this tool and wrangle the code into shape.

"each website" being huggingface and modelscope. The hosting of these files is being subsidized by those two entities. HF was just bought by Nvidia. It's just a matter of time before they try to squeeze out a return. Not sure who is funding modelscope. Anyway, this site popping up is somewhat of a reaction to this.

Similar software exists for the Deck. It's not a requirement for installing linux applications but it does make it easier to add links to the steam big picture interface and manage the cover art. The Frame also has the added complexity of supporting android APKs.

We have /c/fuckcars but no /c/fuckplanes. Yet a lot of the same arguments apply. They cause air pollution (roughly double the amount per km traveled), noise pollution and they (airports) take up a lot of space near dense living areas. Sure, some places can practically only be visited by plane, just like some places can practically only be visited by car. But people don't consider not having your holiday that far away or giving pushback on a busines trip that should have been an online meeting. Besides work-from-home being encouraged, work-from-home-country should be too.

Cars need to be discouraged in favor of busses, trams and trains. Planes nees to be discouraged in favor of high-speed trains, staycations and hopefully new alternatives like modern sailboats or electric planes.
