I work in embedded systems and until recently I would have agreed with you... But it's getting to the point where our agents have access to debuggers/tracers, system I/O logging and basically every tool we would ordinarily use and it's vastly improving the quality of their work.

I always attributed their better performance in web and general software development to more availability of open source examples that they are trained on, but I think the ability to 'self check' was a huge limiting factor. Unit and other pure software testing abstracted away too much of the real system. With real feedback and access to the data sheets it's doing a pretty good job.

They don't create elements, they create molecules. They don't pull methane out of grass, grass doesn't pull methane out of the air. Grass pulls CO2 out of the air and it is fermented by microbes into methane (CH4). Methane is a far more potent greenhouse gas than CO2 although it stays in the atmosphere for a shorter time before it does break down back into carbon dioxide and hydrogen.

In a sense, yes, everything on earth is basically a closed loop and it all eventually balances out. The amount of each element remains stable. The problem is that things like mass farming of cows shifts the balance of those elements.

I think it's partially innacurate to compare per capita energy consumption for the two nations.

The average American lives a vastly different lifestyle to someone in china, consider that per capita consumption of China is now higher than that of the EU. It's not the whole picture. An average American uses almost four times as much energy as a Chinese or European person at home.

If you're talking about standard of living, sure, per capita makes sense. There's no argument that for the majority of people in the US their standard of living is probably objectively higher.

However, China's industrial electricity usage per capita has overtaken that of the US long ago.

I think this is just blatantly wrong. China has vastly more energy capacity that the US and, 3-4x what the USA has. China has the entire USAs energy capacity purely as renewables. The entire time, the competition around energy has been a moot point for China. They don't need more efficient or powerful chips because they had the energy spare to just use more. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang made a good statement on this point. The reason for this, whatever it is, could be entirely unrelated to energy.

This raises questions, we wake up in the engineers body but do we have his mind? Are we just going to be obliterated by biters? Maybe we can even progress to the point where we are generating the pollution needed to cause any issues if we keep our distance?

Not sure what marketplaces are available in Switzerland, but I recommend all the time that people look at Facebook marketplace and others for people selling entire machines. Lots don't know their worth and also know that there's implicitly less trust with no warranties and such. That said, if you're willing to take that risk, there are some great deals.

I played the MX vs ATV games years ago as a kid and they were heaps of fun then. No idea what the new ones are like but legends is cheap at the moment on steam and seem to get good reviews. Definitely a more pure racing game though than the others on your list.

It looks like a barrel chest, which can be a symptom of lung conditions like COPD, or just being old. Other rumours suggested it can happen because of steroid usage without appropriate accompanying exercise. Elon does seem like the kind of person who would use steroids without exercising.
