Talk for Mothers (veritas-caritas.castos.com)

These are my notes. Sorry, my note-taking trailed off in the second half.

For those with scruples: The perfect is the enemy of the good.

Raising boys to be men is "the department of men." It takes men to make men. Fathers, big brothers, an uncle...

Girls are the barometer for the moral atmosphere of a society. They set the moral standards.

Every girl proposes virtue or vice to those around her.

Women's clothing is a statement.

Girls are made to be loved by men. For religious, by our lord. When young, her father. Sometimes, the challenge of a strong-willed woman is finding a man worth surrendering to.

A girl is an examination of conscience for a guy.

Grace perfects nature: Prayer is not sufficient. Must require work.

Are you raising your girls to have a feminine skill set?

Do you show your appreciation for your husband when the children are there and when they are not there?

Do not ever ask a kid why they didn't go to communion. Ever. Same for your husband. It will create bad communions.

Establish an environment where your kids feel safe discussing their problems with you.

Don't be judgmental of women who show-up to Mass who don't meet your standards. Be grateful they are there.

Courtship: Avoid long phone calls, time alone. Pray. Visit the sacraments.

If you have the internet, keep it on lock-down. Do not let your kids be exposed to porn.

What I want to know is "Will she hurt other people if released?" If she won't hurt anyone, let her out. If she will, keep her locked up. But there's no need to execute her. No good can come of it.

I would recommend scheduling a one-on-one lunch together. At lunch, think of yourself as a news reporter who needs to find all about this person. Where are they from? What was their family like? Why do they work here? What are their hobbies? See if you can get them talking about something that they have a strong opinion about.

See if you can do one of these every week.

I also think you would highly benefit from Toastmasters.

I used to look at Reddit every day, several times per day. Anymore, it is once or twice per month. And never very long, becaues the experience has fallen to a terrible low. My only disappointment in Lemmy is that a lot of the niche subs I used to use on Reddit are not here or are very small.

“A Catholic can attend the Divine Liturgy according to the Byzantine tradition, the Maronite tradition, the Armenian tradition, or the Chaldean tradition. No one considers that in itself a threat to ecclesiastical unity.”

Yet, His Excellency continued, “as soon as a Catholic wishes to attend Mass as it has been celebrated for centuries in Rome, Paris, Amsterdam, and virtually the entire Latin Church, some ecclesiastical authorities in Rome begin to worry.”

"...where is everybody going to park?"

What if you had transport options that didn't require to you have to park?

    • No car payment.

    • No expensive insurance requirements.

    • No downtime due to inconvenient auto repairs.

How I would consider this decision would be very different depending if married with children or single. If single, even the greatest risk still isn't too risky. But if you have a family to consider, then you do what's responsible first.

This pope doesn't live the lifestyle you suggest he lives. Two sets of clothes, austere meals, a simple bed, a desk, and not much else. Even his travels are for the good of others, as there's not much to enjoy by those experiences for him. He may set the tone for many Catholics across the globe, but that's the extent. He constantly pleas for an end to genocide in the Middle East. He shames the US president for having the wrong priorities. And he asks us to take care of our neighbors. You would think most people on this platform would like the guy. He has flaws, but so do all of us.
