I hope peaceful relations become the norm and we go back to arguing over what should the Tamtu Šaplītu be named today.

    I hope so too.

I feel like the big question is going to be how Trump responds, since he's a flip of a coin. This agreement could get him the ability to disengage from the Middle East to focus on Cuba (what he wants, not what I want), but I can see the Zionist wing in office not wanting peace between the Arab world and Iran.

Maybe the Arab world would choose to break with the USA over this. However, I don't know what the implications would be if that happened.

Pretty much all arab leadership want "peace" with Israel. The issue is the Arab street/people absolutely do not want to with varying degrees.

IMO this depends more on economy than relations. If gulf oil is seen as too risky, or restricted by Iran after this, then that would gradually release the USA's interest in the gulf, as Washington pivots towards greater energy independence and oil integration with LATAM. However, Israel will always swing the American MIC towards war with ME countries (probably Turkiye and/or Syria next after Lebanon and Iran today)

Saudi officials rejected the idea that Prince Mohammed has pushed to prolong the war.

This article is based on interviews with people who have had conversations with American officials

    actual copium

as i said in my other comment, try not to fall for propaganda.

I don't trust the state department- I mean NYT either, but you're not as intelligent as you think you are with that reply.

"the americans said yes but the saudis said no" wow golf clap you got me there so smart

    the americans said yes

    that is the issue.

you still fall for american propaganda, its not even from the officials themselves, its from random people who "talked" to officials.

im not being dense, youre being contradictory. you claim he begged trump for the war, you then proceed to give me a source you dont believe in?

ive got two pieces of advice for you now, stop falling for propaganda, and stop contradicting yourself.

sometimes people make comments they may not fully believe in to drive discussion...

Then another advice to you Learn to phrase your question in a way that doesn't confirm potentially invalid information, especially if you dont believe in it

An example: didn't he beg trump for the war? why is he going against that now?

I'm a bit skeptical of that given their capabilities were already demonstrated on Israel in the "12 day war".

I think its typical arab snaking tbh.

This is Saudi Arabia signalling what is effectively surrender to Iran.

The only nations not certain that the illegal and offensive war against Iran is lost is the perpetrators. Israel, the US, the UAE and for some reason the UK on and off.

The US will lose all allies except stupid fucking Israel before they finally capitulate and end this moronic offensive war.

Not to hijack this or go off topic but that's exactly what I'm going to do.

The UK government is insane. And I mean that literally and as a Canadian born firmer immigrant and current British citizen feel very uniquely placed to say with some authority.

It makes no sense. And the actions of Starmer and the labour government have no real clear reasonable explanation. If Starmer were a paid plant, a Manchurian candidate, he could not be doing a better job of non violently surrendering Britain to the far right. But to be genuinely clear, I TRULY DO NOT BELIEVE THAT.

I do believe Starmer has a spine cast in a jello mould and all the personality and charm and charisma of a wet towel, he's a useful idiot to some powers that be somewhere. And he somehow honest to goodness believes his own shit and he's a working class hero out there fighting for us with his fancy lawyer degree

Somehow since a historic great majority victory for this man's labour government after 15 years of Tory rule we roundly said no more to austerity and cuts and hospitals crammed with beds in the halls and blah and on and on, and the labour government immediately begins is move rightward, to "consolidate the voter base" and Bering the. Iuntey together of course.

Now we're here today. Keir starmers thacherlite government, thatcheism with a smile and a you go get em lad (soz we can't fix your polio just now)

    How did we get here
