I'm starting to feel ever more smug and comfy since I started converting my gut feeling about AI in the beginning, into an opinion based on myriad articles and discussion about how immoral, environmentally insane, and error-prone/dangerous it is when used in the wrong way.

Let us elevate "morged" as a verb to mean "got fubared because ai"

I'm beginning to understand why they're having so many problems with Windows 11.

We recently had a big day where we all gather at the organization I work at with presentations. I saw some AI graphics which is fine imo, but I also saw full COMPLETELY GENERATED slides. Nice background images, fine looking diagrams but with alien and fake text that got worse the more you stared 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮. It felt embarrassing and unprofessional.

The great news is that programmers will be quoting the diagram for the rest of tim.

Fun that they actually changed it to the original and gave him credit

my favorite part was where they said "it's morgin time" and continvoucly morged over everyone.

Surprised the article didn't point out that the "Tim" axis is also pointing in the wrong direction.

Why aren't Ai companies required to show their training data and include the licenses with each piece?

Around the turn of the decade there was this big movement to rename the master branch to main. GitHub, too, made that switch and when you create a new repository the master branch is called main. The original flowchart was from 2010, when the main branch was still called master, so it's called master there.

The AI generated flowchart, of course, is not a plagiarism machine and it's exactly like a human being that is merely inspired by the source material. Surely it used the up-to-date name for that branch?

The image was licensed under creative Commons where they just need to give attributions .

The author even offered the download of the original keynote file, if someone wanted to edit the text or change something

But no, they had to crunch it with copilot with some prompt "make it enough different so that we don't need to give attribution"

How is there no "It's Morgin time!" memes?

Even the diagram this was based upon plagiarized from is too complicated for most projects to be using.

It's the exact same image that was sloppified, so why did they even generate one to begin with?

My favorite part of Morbius was when he said “I am Morbius” and then morgb’d all over everyone!

I absolutely love the fact that we'll most likely never get rid of stuff like that in AI generated content. There will always be things that are wrong/wonky with it.

The problem is when they start making it acceptable to the masses

Why did this happen? Like in what circumstance does it make sense to delete tge originals and replace them with slop?

What is it with people delegating the simplest things to AI ? it's a graphic with dots and lines and a little bit of text ffs, just do it yourself like a big boy

(and even then, how do you not proofread something like this?)

Having RAM prices skyrocket 9000% and all the ecological destruction was totally worth it for a future that's continvoucly morged!

If the pattern is that each word is rewritten in a distorted but phonetically similar way:

    continuously merged → continvoucly morged

Then applying the same playful distortion style to slop, a similar transformation would be:

    slop → slofp

    Thanks slofp-GPT.

I think throwing up a slop chart like this is incredibly lazy for a company to post. They almost always get something wrong or invent stuff.

If you are having a conversation with someone about a topic and need something kinda quick, and sorta accurate to help explain something in a pinch, slopcharts aren't useless. I've generated a couple based on niche manuals/handbooks. Probably better tools for the job, just the thing I happened to reach for.

Right, it's the lack of any double checking that's shocking. I use LLMs to make mermaid diagrams of code all the time, it's super useful, but you have to actually read through what it generates.

Charts are like almost the easiest kind of image to make. Why would you use AI for that?

Why forward instructions to an artist and wait when you can forward it to AI and get it instantly.

It would be very easy to make.... But not as easy as describing what you need to AI and clicking a button.

I consistently ask LLMs things that I could Google; it's just massively convenient.
