Lemmy: "China gov bad."
Lemmygrad: Source!? Banned for racism.
Lemmygrad: "USA gov bad."
Lemmy: Nods vigorously. Rambles in agreement.
Two governments canβt be bad at the same time. Thatβs just science.
Off topic, but I like your avatar. Is that from JL, YJ or something else?
Young Justice. Good eye! Extra 2 points if you can remember who is under the helmet in that one.
Eye color and hair is wrong for Zatanna, not Kaldur either... Been too long since I watched the show, heh. I think I actually missed the last season, so I'll have to fix that!
Anyway, I gave up and had to look it up. Looks like Wally going by the eyes, I forgot about that!
lemmy.dbzer0.com [chad]: βAll governments are badβ
What's funny is often the "USA government bad" isn't enough, and they have to pile on top until it's ridiculous.
Like, guys, we started this conversation with gulags. The Trail of Tears really isn't part of this conversation.
And the post you got banned for isn't racist at all, unlike what the person who replied to you insinuated.
Dessalines seems to think the Winnie the Pooh likening is because Pooh is yellow and not because he is fat and round. Which, in a way, makes him the racist one.
The "Asian yellow skin" thing never made any sense to me. I've seen a ton of Asians, none of them were yellow, not even close. Xi Jinping has the same complexion as a white guy with a tan.
I think it was substantially influenced by the traditional four humours. Carl Linnaeus' work was not the first to call East Asians "yellow", but it was very widely spread and influential. He categorised humans into four races and associated each with one of the humours, then describing that race as having the characteristics associated with the humour (hence the equally-odd "red" description for Native Americans)
@dessalines@lemmy.ml It's pretty embarassing that you're supposedly one of the lead lemmy devs yet don't understand that the modlog is public and we can see you're full of shit when you claim a comment like this is racist. Maybe if you spent more time actually developing and less time being red fascist you'd know how your own system works.
This community is blocked on .ml (can't let people realize Dessalines is full of shit!) I'm not sure if Dessalines will be able to see this.
And I have dessalines blocked so even if he saw this and replied I wouldn't know anyways.
I posted this comment purely for whatever scraps of catharsis it may generate.
Pinging people can still break through the personal blocked communities though Iβm not so sure how this works on instance blocks though π€
No surprise. Dessalines is the reason I switched from lemmy to piefed once my instance anounced it's going to shut down...
Is piefed centered on communities instead of people, like Lemmy ? The reason I only use reddit-like social media is because I've never cared to follow individuals, but I do care about communities and shared interests.
Well, from my very limited experience point of view it is exactly 1:1 replacement of Lemmy.
It might not support 100% lemmy features, but generally it functions the same.
Probably gonna switch later today then π
You can even export your followed communities in lemmy and import them into piefed.
Can I find and subscribe to nifty communities from Piefed in my Lemmy account? And how do I do that?
Piefed (like piefed.social) should look just like another lemmy instance. Not sure how proper linking works /c/piefed_meta@piefed.social or !piefed_meta@piefed.social or https://piefed.social/c/piefed_meta
Yes, it is. You can be confused when checking it out because it not only allows you to navigate communities individually like on Lemmy but also bundle of communities for a single feed by topic or custom feeds created by others (likw how people can bundle a list of profiles for its own custom feed on Bluesky, but instead you do it with communities on PieFed)
Communities (Lemmy) = Communities (PieFed)
Topics (PieFed) = by so far what I understood its created by the instance usually and by default when self-hosting your own it will have some topics already organized with feed from communities related to the topic title
Feed (PieFed) = user & instance custom built feed of communities (Lemmy or PieFed) bundled together into a single feed and easily shareable with others
You can check the PieFed instance list here , some Lemmy instances are alreqdy starting to host a PieFed instance on the side too I just dont see lemmy.zip instance for PieFed there yet which is piefed.zip but you can check the others in the notes by the side of their address
I though PiedFed was the fediverse Instagram, I guess I was wrong !
That would be Pixelfed , maybe you just confused the names :)
If you are looking for fediverse Facebook, theres Friendica but in that case I find Friendica better if you're going to selfhost for you and your friends to use for having a different use case, also supports bridging with plenty of Fediverse platforms and Fediverse-friendly platforms like Bluesky and even pull RSS Feeds into your feed, its quite the tool if you are willing to selfhost or any of your friends IRL are
Donβt forget Nutomic.
Iβm sure they are might be nice people IRL but they are authoritarian as hell and have terrible political opinion.
Isn't Nutomic also transphobic? Not sure that falls under "nice people IRL"
True. I kinda forgot about that.
Damn these devs do so much bad shit, it has like a flood the zone with shit effect where you kinda forget.
Your instance is already hosting a PieFed instance on the side you can confirm here , its piefed.blahaj.zone
Lemm.ee I'm guessing? How do you like piefed.social? None of the apps I use support piefed yet but I'm thinking about biting the bullet anyway
The beta version of voyager supports it. Iβm using it right now. You can find the download links for the beta here.
Wow thatβs awesome didnβt know Voyager was adding piefed, thank you so much for the info!
Lemm.ee indeed. So far it's been quite decent alternative to lemmy. I used voyager on mobile, switched to Interstellar, which is not as polished yet honestly, but it's still very much usable. For web interface I find the defaults much, MUCH better on piefed than on lemmy. I disliked lemmys default to be so bad I'd rather used something else like Alexandrite or Photon.
To be honest, since Lemm.ee anouncement my main goal was to ditch lemmy (thanks to dessalines) and stay with fediverse. The other consideration was mbin (like fedia.io), but after some reading it seems it's very limited by manpower and probably won't see much development in near future.
Lol if you manage to get a full site ban (shouldn't be too hard lmao) you'll unlock this achievement!

They honestly believe the Pooh thing is racism because Pooh is yellow and yellow= Chinese racism.
It's beyond them that their chief bootwearer looks exactly like a certain cartoon bear
What was the comment?
"This person wouldn't believe the sky was blue unless you linked a study proving it. The Huyghur genocide. Not recognizing the independence of Taiwan. The entire way their "democracy" functions. The lasting damage the "one child policy" has done to their demographics (by their own reporting, not the wild exaggerations of the West) You don't need to pick between the sides you're being offered today, don't fall for this false choice fallacy. Freedom isn't choosing the correct master to serve. If you disagree, I invite you to go to Tiananmen square wearing a Winnie the Pooh T-shirt and see what happens."
Wait, how can YOU see it ? Can everyone access removed comments in the mod log ?
Anyway, good job finding it before I did ! I added it to the post.
Well, admins can see removed comments and posts. But yes, the modlog is public and the removed content is also shown there.
Ahh yeah they call the pooh comparison racist since pooh is yellow
That would be a very bad faith interpretation (so it's probably it), I said that because comparing Xi Jin Ping to Winnie the Pooh is a thing his Chinese opponents do to make fun of him, because he kinda does look like him.
The way lumi works is that it is decentralized and for bands to work across instances... if you are the admin of an instance then you can see everything relating to that instance including mod actions that effect users that use your instance. Nothing is private.
Honestly that's a good thing. I just wish there was a button directly on removed comments to read them right there, though maybe that's the app's job to implement.
Depends on what you use. I can see my own deleted comments from quite a few posts that various instance admins decided to remove.
How is this racism?
(This is a rhetorical question. We all know he is a nut job.)
It's just so people can "know" that it was removed due to racism and thus, a just reason. A way to cover their ass.
It's not, but who will be able to tell once the comment is removed?
the logic of the mods is that winnie the pooh is a racist charicature because he's yellow
I just added it to the post, had no idea I could still find it in the mod log !
Being a ml honestly takes so much mental gymnastics...from skipping both marx and lenins works entirely, touting stalin as a legitimate theorist, to simping for nationalist movements, doing racial pseudo science plus the intellectual leg work for large imperialist nations...it seems like a lot of work to me....and all to come across as a whiney sort of racist spoiled psuedo intellecual brat to the actual working class. Dont get me started on maoists who legitimately think that white people cant be proletarian. These two types of leftist specifically will do anything but try to understand what communism is.
I saw that thread yesterday and decided it was not even worth entering the cesspool. I figured any criticism of China would be dismissed as either motivated or based on western propaganda.
Thanks for trying it in my place ter_maxima
...y'all haven't blocked ml yet? The fuck are you waiting for?
The point is to keep track of .ml's moderation abuses and collect evidence of their wrongdoing to encourage others to avoid or (wishful thinking but you never know) defederate from .ml. Blocking .ml just lets them continue their garbage unopposed and hidden from public scrutiny.
