Wish I could be as optimistic as you about the 60 series. I hope the AI bubble bursts quickly so that prices can normalise because I won't buy a PC with these prices.

Sooo, whats with the patch on your cat? 😄
Unfortunate with the coil wine, but otherwise great cardbto skip a generation 😬
I was making a joke that i had to sell my cat's kidney for one of these cards. It's just a gauze with food coloring, but the post got taken down briefly by reddit mod due to "depiction of violence" because of that 😂
I just upvoted for the cat, not sorry. Your cat is one chunky man and I just wanna squeeze him and rub him and love him forever! (sorry if it's actually a girl cat lol)
it's not affecting me that much when i'm fully immersed in VR due to wearing headphones, but when i'm using it with local LLM for chats the noise can be unbearable. Not sure how undervolting can affect that particular use case yet so i've never done it.
Do you get coil whine on idle? Or only under load? Maybe just a frame rate limit might reduce your coil whine
Totally no whine on idle, only under load. Like i said in other reply, on stable frame rate it can almost be like white noise due to constant noise, but when running LLM it makes a very distinctive rhythmic noise, and the noise pattern is different with every model and its VERY annoying.
i'm getting coil whine from it and had to live with that until 60 series...
My 7900 XTX sounds like it's trying to establish a dial-up connection to Satan when running intense compute tasks. So we can suffer together.
Is it meant to look like you bought the card with your cats kidney?
According to OP’s comment in the original post, yes, that’s exactly what it’s supposed to look like. The gauze just has some food coloring to make that joke.
exactly, thanks. I'm following the template of one of those memes that always circulate around everytime apple release new iPhone, just this time it's the cat's kidney.
Alive and well, and with a look that says, "Using me for internet clout again?"
Give that fluffnugget some compensation snacks.
I have a Gigabyte 1070 from a previous build that had coil whine.
Ended up being fixed after a long stress test ran the fans at full speed for a while.
I wish mine will break-in like yours, but so far no such luck 🙃
It was a great many hours of running a GPU stress test that used 100% of the GPU causing the fans to go full bore.
My guess is coil whine is caused by the parts not fitting together properly meaning that the motor not having enough oomph to move the fans over the extra friction.
