After 10 years I left reddit. One of the subs I used to visit frequently is called somethingiswrong2024 which deals with the anomalies that occurred in the 2024 election, which was followed up with trump thanking elmo for his help with the voting computers. Over 3100 counties in the USA...not 1 flipped red to blue. That's never happened. So one of the new mods is a huge Kamala fan. Anything in that sub critical of Kamala is a no go. Question why she disappeared....question why she didn't ask for even one recount....point out she's been on a book tour while the country has been burning...you will get the ban hammer. Look through any post featuring Kamala and scroll through the comments....so so many deletions. Best part is the mod doesn't even live in the US. The fact that people like that are making it impossible to even question Dem leadership is unreal. My home state sub got taken over by a white supremacist. Enough is enough. I know that reddit is built on the model of free labor but when people start doing something egregious that is brazenly awful and the company just nods in approval it's too much. /rant over

Left it after 12-ish years when they killed the api and Apollo (RIP GOAT) no longer worked.

My app survived (Relay) but I left anyway because I do not believe in giving money to a website/app when they can just make money from their ads that I block. My ISP already gets $50/mo from me and that's too much as-is.

Many years ago the Canada sub was suddenly filled by people who couldn't describe living in Canada accurately. Like, completely obvious to anyone living here. 100% was reddit aware. A ridiculous amount of astroturfing. Fuck that shithole corpo propaganda fascist place.

Only bots and bigots left over there, you'll be glad you left.

the voting machines being rigged barely made the news several times and it was immediately quashed in the msms, and on reddit.

I thought she accepted the result in order to not be a big crybaby about it like the guy who lost in 2020.

    Edit: typo

I hop back on reddit every now and again to sling shit at chuds but I'm assuming I'll get perma'd soon enough. Just got another warning today for saying it's OK to punch Nazis - actually.

I'm sure you'll be ok without it. In fact your mental health might improve, maybe.

    Typical reddit, simping for genocidists...
Glad you made the switch. You'll fit in perfectly here. Just be sure to avoid the Tankies (pro-Russia, pro-China Authoritarian bootlickers who pretend to be communists); your Lemmy experience will improve tremendously simply by blocking hexbear.org, beehaw.org, and any instance ending in .ml (lemmy.ml, lemmygrad.ml)

I'd bash reddit, but incels need their safe space!

I don't think the vote was stolen. However, if it were and Kamala's campaign was, in fact, effective and only thwarted by a difficult-to-detect plot, that would break a lot of people's narratives here.

It can be both. Harris' campaign was an objective failure in every possible sense of the word. It was one of the worst electoral campaigns in world history. That being said it makes little sense that not one single county in the US flipped blue given the failure that the Trump admin left on.

Biden gave up at a bad point in time. I guess he just had brainfog from corona during that one show, i had that too. Its brain damage like losing ability to smell but can repair itself. Better reason to hand over earlier would have been his overall age early on and he could have supported kamala so good.

Biden should've taken the advice of every single pundit and just not run for reelection given the state of the country. If Harris acknowledged the reality that people did not recover from the pandemic, on average, or that the AIPAC positions was untenable, she would have won, regardless of when the campaign started.

She chose to lose as a sycophantic vice president, instead of running for president.

Sorry to say, but we've got subs like that here too. Or rather at least 1 that I know of.

Best part is the mod doesn’t even live in the US.

Maybe someone should make a more nuanced sub on the issue?

Agreed, but there is a difference. Multiple instances give the ability to host multiple "subs" of the same name in different places. In theory, over time people will migrate to the version that is most welcoming & befitting its purpose.

That's true, but on reddit you could make a mostly similar name, that is then hosted on the same server.
I left reddit about 8 years ago, 5 years before I joined here. So it's not that I have any need to defend reddit, I just don't see the big difference in this particular regard.
In every other respect however, Lemmy is a far more free platform.

Yea, Lemmy (especially .world) is sadly full of the same centrist lib shits as reddit is.

The more left wing is still the majority as far as I can tell.
My comment wasn't so much on the politics as it was on moderators that are weird sometimes.
It's not bad here IMO, but it happens. More precisely with Burstar on https://lemmy.world/c/ukraine@sopuli.xyz.
But he has almost killed that sub now, that used to be by far the biggest Ukraine sub, but now we have more activity here on https://lemmy.world/c/ukraine. But it is also a downside, that the most active Ukraine site is only ranked 5th in a search on Ukraine communities.

Best is when you get banned on a sub, don't really recognize it and then get pushed controversial discussions while on an alt (which they allow per their app) and get a global ban because you dared to comment. Ehh good luck with all the bots circlejerking over there.
