Haley Stevens just launched her new career with the GOP

She's still calling herself a Democrat. I don't think GOP voters will respect her unless she goes super hard with MAGA fascism. Even then, there's a credibility issue for GOP voters, and she won't have Independents or obviously Democrats.

Idk Stevens' politics well, but Tulsi Gabbard fooled people a long time before switching sides. There's more to do than be a senator, if you're willing to do anything.

She’d have to chop a good deal of that stuff to exploit the full grifting potential available to her but I hardly think that’s impossible if she sets her mind to it, everyone likes the thought of converts to their own side even if not necessarily the specific person so I’m sure there would be room for her “Why I Left the Left” story somewhere in that ecosystem. JD Vance was a never Trumper but swapped over and now he’s the VP for the guy so a lot of crazy things are possible

The two parties would actually be quite small if you just grouped every Israeli vote into a third party.

Meanwhile, the NY Times is claiming character issues for both candidates with a subheadline of "The relationship shattered in part because of Israel, but also because of their sensitive egos and hurt feelings."

NYT hates the new progressives and never misses a chance to passive-aggressive denigrate them.

As far as Stevens goes, I don't think anyone is fooled. El-Sayed has pretty much just kept being what he has been all along. It's almost like he trolled her simply by not changing in response to her provocations.

I think Jamelle Bouie said it best:

"To my mind this is a great example of the problem with candidates who don't seem to really believe anything, who seem only to be running to advance their careers, and who are unable to make themselves subordinate to a larger cause," Bouie said. "Stevens clearly thought that this whole story was about her, and now that it isn't, she is lashing out in a way to make it about her. The story may end up being about her, but inasmuch as it becomes a cautionary tale about people like Haley Stevens, and I think at a time when Democrats were trying to make their final push, trying to build unity, this actually might be the thing that did it, because now everyone is united in a simple message, which is that Haley Stevens sucks."

But note that even though Jamelle Bouie is a frequent columnist for NYT, he didn't opine this there. Instead, he said it on his own YouTube channel.

TL;DR: Never look to NYT for a balanced view on progressives.
