720p is HD, though
1080p is FHD (Full HD)
1440p is QHD (Quad HD)
The fact 720p was ever considered HD is a crime
Given we had 576 lines in Europe, rather than the American 480, all it did was confuse matters when they made 1080i/p available at the same time and call it all HD. Salt in the wound to retroactively call progressive scan SD, EDTV when that's basically what they should have called 720p
Oh and the HD-capable Vs HD-Ready™️ Vs actual full (aka real) HD nonsense still has me irked
Yes I'm shouting at clouds
I'm old school, anything above Standard Definition is high definition, the rest is just marketing or useless jargon. (...and even for SD you still have to specify if it's PAL or NTSC or whatever.)
And I'm still referring to computer screen resolutions by exact pixel dimensions, I can't remember the marketing abbreviations like MXQTSVGA (Mega Extended Quad Turbo Super VGA)
Sometimes I wish I could unsubscribe.
I'm old enough to be on ADSD instead, but it's the crappy 480i kind with VHS Macrovision that never quite works right.
