We use LLM tools in the development of Catodon. If that is something you do not approve of, this may not be the project for you. It works for us 😺

Always good to see this being disclosed

I've never heard of catodon before, but I love the name and the logo.

I had a look yesterday, very cool, especially the Fediverse catalog: https://catalog.catodon.rocks/ !

The biggest new feature for me is hidden in the middle of the changelog:

Client to Server API support!!!!! Awesome!

True interoperability between traditionally incompatible projects (like different types of social media) may be the biggest advantage the fediverse has, so why isnt this the default for all fediverse software? Why did the big players in the fediverse make their custom incompatible APIs?

    Anyway, great work!

How does this differ from Misskey?

In many ways - several features are gone, several have been added. Some of the main ones, I guess, are federated forums (compatible with Lemmy/Piefed), federated blogs, an RSS feed, following hashtags, and customizable timelines. We're also trying to make it easier for new users, with familiar terminology etc.

Ah, it’s described in the readme.

Catodon is a fork of Misskey that brings together the best features of Sharkey, Firefish and Iceshrimp, and adds what none of them has: Lemmy-compatible forums and federated blogs. Microblogging, forums and blogs live in one place, and it is built to make communities easier to run, easier to understand, and more comfortable to use every day.

any chance catodon will support openwebauth? similar to what hubzilla/streams has which allows seamlessly interacting with any instance you visit?
