Belarus’s authoritarian leader Alexander Lukashenko said Monday that there are no available volumes of fertilizer to send to the U.S. This came after President Trump announced that he was working on a “massive Deal” to buy potash from Minsk at a steep discount amid the trade war with Canada.

Does Trump just unknowingly make stuff up out of thin air these days? Is he self aware?

These days? I heard about this guy when he was president and since then he just lies.

Sure, but it seemed like he had some plan with his lying back in the beginning, some premeditation and some effort to build a story that can at least survive a couple of weeks. Recently his lies seem internally inconsistent, easy to debunk immediately, and just give him no benefit. Makes me think he doesn't even understand himself that they aren't true, it's just stream-of-consciousness wishful thinking.

I know Australia's BHP.AX has poured billions into building a potash facility in Canada, not sure how it's going aside from a day late and a dollar short though, as is nearly always the case with projects this big.

I wonder what BHP are thinking now with all this Trump bloviating and Canada antagonism from the US Government

    https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/bhp-flags-cost-overrun-jansen-potash-project-book-23-billion-charge-2026-06-18/

BHP Group (BHP.AX), opens new tab on Thursday warned of cost overruns ‌at its Jansen Stage 2 potash project in Canada and said it will book a $2.3 billion charge as higher costs and additional labour hours drive up spending and delay first production.

This is the third time BHP has blown past its cost and time estimates for the two stages of the project, dealing a major setback to the miner's decade-long plans to diversify from copper and iron ore.

Sounds like Trump is unable to get potash elsewhere. Guess that means Canadan producers can utilize their monopsony power to increase prices to the US. Not like US farmers would have any choice but to pay it

More and more I am getting the feeling that the USA is being ruled by NatalieGPT, which goes like this: Trump whines about something like not having potash, Natalie queries an LLM where else has potash then tells Trump that he just made a stupendous trade deal there so he can post about it or share some more AI slop.

Canada should charge an additional 0.1% export tax on potash every time Trump says or posts something dumb. Probably would be over 100% before the midterms.

Buying from the enemy's closest ally was the best he could come up with in the first place?

All signs point to Russia and trump administration are in bed. They're planning something.

Russia attacks a NATO country. Poland? Finland?

Canada steps in all in, resources depleted

USA says america first that's NATO's fight. Doesn't help.

America takes over a depleted Canada.

You mean to say that the dipshit who couldn't make a deal when his brain was operating at its peak efficiency can't actually make deals while demented? I for one am shocked, utterly shocked.
