That really doesn't seem right. I would have assumed Canada would have fought withe the EU without needing to be a member. That's literally what NATO is for and we were all onboard with that.

Maybe EU member states should join the Canadian confederation as associate provinces and territories instead?

Well, we didn't need to be an associate member the last time we died for Europe.
