Societal collapse is inevitable with or without AI if we let capitalism continue. Also do you know how much AI actually contributes to global warming? There are so many things you could be doing such as not eating meat, not owning a car or using a smaller car and driving it less, organising against capitalism before you consider lecturing people on their AI usage.

Funny, I feel like it's the opposite. I appreciate the use of a local LLM over renting GPU time, but unless you trained the model yourself I'm still not in love with the source.

Also it's just made my entire field unstable and less fun.
