I had a report for AI slop today. 1m LOC in 3 months. How do you even modify and distribute that? I do not think we had a rule against it.

IMHO if we allow, the community gets drowned out by AI vomit and it is harder to see handcrafted loved projects that are easy to modify and distribute.

My mind is to ban it to preserve open source.

Are folk in agreememt with this line? Would love to hear your thoughts.

You don't do open source software?

Do you understand open source licenses?

A big premise of that is attributation. If you don't give appropriate credit, you're in breach of license. The code AI used didn't allow it to be distributed without it. They stole from that person.

We're talking about the worker, not the bourgeoisie. Their labour was exploited to benefit a corporate entity. And you're consuming stolen proceeds from the bourgeoisie and defending their contributions.

    We've grown considerably since rebuilding the sub (see https://lemmy.ml/post/2262830). Active monthly users 150 -> 380. 3.5k -> 5.42k subs. It seems to be growing organically now, and the higher we go, the more people will stumble across it. There is always a need to get away from Google, and hopefully our community can help people with this.
