If I'm lucky they'll finally shut the fuck up about "Somalians"* and talk about football instead, even though I don't really care about football.

*(I understand "Somalians" isn't what they're called, but the racists in my family never bothered to learn that.)

That's my experience. They just shut the fuck and don't want to talk about it when they lose, but when they were winning (just barely) it was all they could ever speak about.

Honestly this is my hope too, that they'll just shut the fuck up about politics. I really hope these next two years remind my family how to be people instead of walking propaganda machines.

For those unaware of the correct term:

Somalis overwhelmingly prefer the demonym Somali over Somalian, which may be viewed as incorrect[68][69] since the former is an endonym, while the latter is an exonym with double suffixes.[70]
