I have a rule: "sorry means you won't do it again". If I'm about to say sorry for something, I perform a thought experiment: if a similar situation arose and I had the same choice to make again, would I? If the answer is "yes", then I'm not sorry and I shouldn't say that I am.

There’s some annoying moments in my mind where people are in a rush to get a celebrity to “Say sorry” for their actions, as if that’s the important part.

In some cases, it seems feasible to me, even if I agree with the issue, that the celebrity doesn’t understand what makes their actions a severe problem. Some mistakes are complex. The rush should be to have a conversation where they understand. Sorry comes after.

You do NOT want celebrities feeling an antagonistic relationship with their fans where they’re forcing hollow apologies.

I agree, except you are also allowed to be sorry for things that didn't involve you. Like you can be sorry someone suffered an accident. But yes you should genuinely regret your actions if you are apologizing.
