Well, China is a “beacon of prosperity” by any objective measure. I’ve not seen anyone there make the other claims. Though they do debunk a lot of the anti-Russia and anti-China propaganda, they back it up with facts.

Compare for instance homelessness in china and the west. Homeownership. Access to healthcare, higher education, public transportation etc. Why do you think it's not a beacon of prosperity?

They literally invented a diabetes cure, and the US is banning it to maintain insulin profits. They win healthcare.

I don’t see how corporations being allowed to buy up 1/3rd or US housing inventory is any indicator of how people manage their money.

Please, don't be ridiculous. Look at the expenditure per capita on healthcare in China vs in the USA.

No, freedom of press is not a measure of prosperity. And I don’t know many western countries that are in a position to point fingers at this point, considering how many journalists they’ve helped kill when they covered a genocide.

800 million people out of poverty is a stretch but if you wanted to make that claim

Yeah, where do these stupid tankies get these numbers anyway? I'm sure China says they lifted 800 million kajillion people out of poverty or whatever, but let's see what a western source like, say, The World Bank has to say about it.

it’s because the west spent so much money to get goods from China.

I swear these arguments get worse every day. You could just as easily say that the only reason the West has so much stuff is because China made it for them for cheap.

Wait, that's actually a much more coherent argument lol.

The world bank? My person they are quoting the Chinese propaganda.

I see. So The World Bank is also in on the communist plot to sap and impurify our precious bodily fluids.

The west had lots of stuff after ww2, they got more cheaper stuff when they offshored it to China that’s the coherent argument

"You only made a bunch of money because you produced stuff people wanted to buy" is not the own you think it is.

There's a genocide going on in Gaza. You aren't allowed to go there and yet brave people still do and Israel shoots those that try.

They didn’t “abduct people for their beliefs.” They had to reeducate a population that had been radicalized by western intelligence. Now the facilities no longer exist, they’ve been reintegrated, and the west was forced to admit they had no proof of their claims.

Yes, and I’m accurately describing it. Admitting they didn’t have proof of genocide, then doubling down on the lie again. They’ve since abandoned even those claims, because the facilities no longer exist.

Which is why there are no current sources to reference. You’re pushing a 10 year old lie that even the west gave up on.

UN woud be amazing, amnesty international usually cites sources, like anything like that would be amazing. Racism and authoritarianism are tools used by the oppressors, not the motivators. The lost generations in canada, pissrael and australia were to further a genocide of the native population in order to settle their land. A clear economic motivator. I don't see a similar motive for china.

That's the same link twice, it doesn't say anything about residential schools. There are two sources cited in the wikipedia article, one is Zenz from 2021 (of course) and the other a single financial times article from 2018 that cites no sources except US officials and some guy that left his home years ago to pursue a degree in Pissrael.

Compare that with what I see on xiaohongshu where Uighurs share their culture, language, traditions etc. and can you at least understand why this doesn't really sound convincing to me?

A residential school system that has allegedly abducted thousands of children for over 7 years now and the best source wikipedia has to offer is a years old financial times article that isn't even a real witness testimony?

It's a bit tiring to do the source work myself tbh, I'll respond more later but again the first article you shared has nothing about schools. The UN report it's based on like 3 links further has some information about schools, doesn't seem to be boarding schools but I'll look into it later:

    https://www.ohchr.org/sites/default/files/documents/countries/2022-08-31/22-08-31-final-assesment.pdf

The other article is again mostly US state propaganda that is just stuff like

More than one million Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities, including ethnic Kazakhs and Uzbeks, have been detained since 2017, according to international researchers and U.S. government officials. (Some watchdog groups put more recent estimates closer to 1.8 million)

One million is quite the number, yet there never seems to be any concrete evidence supporting this. Satellite images don't count, not since the "WMDs in Iraq". I'm gonna bet "international researchers" is again just Zenz. The "watchdog group" links to an article by rfa, so it's literally just the CIA. Like what the fuck is this, why are the only like a dozen Uyghur people protesting this and why is constantly pushed by the US state departement, CIA and the likes who have never once cared about foreigners ever??

The only thing about schools again is

Many families have also reported that their children were taken to boarding schools without their consent.

It links to this https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2023/09/china-xinjiangs-forced-separations-and-language-policies-uyghur-children which clearly states at the bottom

Special Procedures’ experts work on a voluntary basis; they are not UN staff and do not receive a salary for their work. They are independent from any government or organization and serve in their individual capacity.

and is a few paragraphs like

The experts received information about large-scale removal of children, mainly Uyghur,

What information?? Witness testimony? Pictures? What's large-scale? Dozens, hundreds, thousands, millions?

Why is it so difficult to pin down actual verifiable evidence. Or witness testimonies. Any group oppressed historically had solidarity movements, jews during the holocaust, palestinians, native americans, where are the uyghur grassroots movements?

Can you at least understand why a skeptical reading of these allegations leaves a lot to be desired?

    anti suicide nets

Should they just let people kill themselves?

    996

    Is illegal

    Committing genocide

The UN did not find genocide only human rights abuses at best. You can go to China, you can go to a mosque and talk to Uyghurs there.

Meanwhile the west is funding a real genocide in Gaza. You can't go there to film the atrocities being committed and brave people still try. Israel has killed more journalists in their genocide than ww2

That has never stopped authoritarian governments lol

I don't understand what you're saying. The 996 thing does exist but it was made illegal. Sometimes private companies try to make workers do more hours illegally.

Ok sorry ethnic cleansing isn't genocide, sorry....

They didn't find ethnic cleansing either. Again, you can go to Xinjiang and visit mosques with Uyghurs praying in them. So yeah ethnic cleaning ain't happening.

You brought up the genocide to someone speaking positively of China. But the only ones doing genocide are the west. China does a bunch of bad shit it isn't perfect but if genocide is the criteria we're running with then China is the lesser evil.

Yes you are a dumbass. There exists a place you can go to and see for yourself regular ass people and simultaneously you think they're being genocided. They're in prison because they're either regular ass criminals, terrorists or unjustly imprisoned like with what happens in basically every country because prisons tend to suck. What of the other ten and a half million Uyghurs not imprisoned? And I even admitted there was human rights abuses but you still accuse me of being like someone who thinks slavery wasn't a big deal. You're a deeply unserious person.

The point is that a system where you just vote for a guy every four years won't change anything because the rich are in charge and have all the power.

Without having the people in power there can't be democracy.

If you were classically educated, you'd know the meme is about Sortition vs Elections (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sortition). The idea is that you can't have democracy when you have to vote for your representative, because rich families will manipulate the election process. The better solution to pick your Senate would be to randomly select group representatives and have them cooperate.

And that was what Greek philosophers like Aristotle thought ~2300 years ago. Actually all sources we have suggest that Greeks from that era though that elections are undemocratic, and only sortition can provide true democracy.

Seems to be true today when we vote, we pick between turds, and nothing changes for the better. <- and that's what meme is about

Side note: Carlin was right, you get educated only enough to be able to work for your masters.

How many people looking at that meme even knew about ancient Greeks shitting on elections in favour of sortition and went there, instead of thinking "elections bad? You must want to have a king, you authoritarian swine"
