Except he's not, and he still has a lot of power. He can veto legislation he doesn't like and the Democrats may have trouble overriding that veto unless they get Republican Senators on their side.

Not that yesterday's election wasn't historic and welcome, but it still doesn't solve everything. And of course it remains to be seen how much appetite Democrats have for a real change, as opposed to pleasing their corporate and billionaire patrons.

Shot up a special needs elementary school class room with a shotgun that is so deranged.

Apathy is killing the world. Events like these should be ringing alarm bells and driving people to come together and decide how they're going to address the problem.

    Update:

The attacker used a pump-action shotgun that was purchased by his mother, according to a law enforcement official briefed on the shooting. The official spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the investigation.

Don't buy your children guns, what the actual fuck.

If you think this feels bad now, wait for the incessant "good guy with a gun" word vomit from the Republicans that is guaranteed to happen now.

I'm glad they were there, but I'd rather no "active shooter" incidents to begin with.

Police received a call about a man shooting into a car just before 1 p.m. local time, Miller said. About a minute later, multiple 911 calls came in saying that person had entered the school and started shooting, police said in a statement.

Police arrived within 3 minutes and quickly reported that the shooter was dead. Miller said it was not clear who shot and killed the suspect, saying it "may have been a bystander." Sources told CBS News the shooter was believed to be a teenager who was killed by a good Samaritan.

Maybe a teenager. This is from CBS.

There has been a shadow update on 'transporting to hospital and what that means. Now it allows the patient to be called deceased at the hospital not at the scene.

So I really hope everyone pulls through and I hope that it isn't another transport to be called time of death. So sick of this shit.

We have real problems. Billionaires whining for upgrades suites we'll never be able to afford isn't our concern. Leave with the team, go shake down Wyoming for handouts since they're so business friendly. What about Alaska?

This particular case is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how bad things were and are in the state of Oregon when it comes to how vulnerable populations are cared for. Scandal after scandal after scandal has happened in youth corrections, foster care, CPS, and in care homes where elderly & disabled live, and nothing is ever actually done about it.

There are many problems in state government, but care for at-risk youth, elderly, and the disabled is routinely one of the worst. I beg people to pay attention to it, and look into the record if you can spare the time. Just pull any single thread and follow it with your favorite search engine and you will be absolutely horrified at what you find in plain sight.

Sharing this despite the fact that some people have reported being paywalled by OregonLive ... adding ?outputType=amp to the end of an article URL should (and does, in most cases, for me) display the entire content of the article, so I'd be interested to hear if it doesn't work for you.

    Jean-Ralphio?

Okay the actual situation sounds kinda fucked up. Being forever held accountable for some dumb shit you said in middle school is a knockoff Black Mirror episode.

I don't even consider lifetime bans from a website sensible. If you have any concept of restorative justice, letting a dude say 'oops' over being an asshole at fourteen should be a gimme.
