One way to combat harmful contagion is to draw on an idea first used in the 1960s called pre-bunking. The idea is to train people to practice skills to spot and resist misinformation and disinformation on a smaller scale before they’re exposed to the real thing.

The idea is akin to vaccines that build immunity through exposure to a weakened form of the disease-causing germ. The idea is for someone to be exposed to a limited amount of false information, say through the pre-bunking with Google quiz. They then learn to spot common manipulation tactics used in false information and learn how to resist their influence with evidence-based strategies to counter the falsehoods. This could also be done using a trained facilitator within classrooms, workplaces or other groups, including virtual communities.

Then, the idea is to gradually repeat the process with larger doses of false information and further counterarguments. By role-playing and practicing the counterarguments, this resistance skills training provides a sort of psychological innoculation against misinformation and disinformation, at least temporarily.

Importantly, this approach is intended for someone who has not yet been exposed to false information – hence, pre-bunking rather than debunking. If we want to engage with someone who firmly believes in their stance, particularly when it runs contrary to our own, behavioral scientists recommend leading with empathy and nonjudgmentally exchanging narratives.

Debunking is difficult work, however, and even strong debunking messages can result in the persistence of misinformation. You may not change the other person’s mind, but you may be able to engage in a civil discussion and avoid pushing them further away from your position.

Hopefully her compatriots will explain to her what is the opportunity cost of not supporting Ukraine. Although it's clear that this is the point where her interests diverge from those of France.

Despite withdrawing its branding as an official supporter, the EU continues to fund the conference.

A diplomatic source at France’s foreign ministry said “there’s absolutely no reason for us to change our commitments” when it came to supporting the conference.

“We stick to supporting civil society. It’s not just principled, it’s operational,” she said, adding that the conference was a “laboratory” that helped Europe develop key policy around disinformation.

Jović invited “Katya” to meet. During their meeting, he spoke about his pro-Russian activities and hinted at the involvement of Russian intelligence agencies. Asked directly whether intelligence agencies in Moscow were directing his social media activity, he said, “Nobody knows. Well, I don’t know — in theory. In practice, I do know.” Later, when Geray approached him under her real name as a reporter, he denied taking part in a pro-Russian campaign.

Israel continues to position itself closer to Russia

Russia and Israel both spread and amplified disinformation related to the mass entry of migrants ‌into Spain's North African exclave ‌of Ceuta last month, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on Monday, citing research ‌by the European Union's foreign policy body, the European External Action Service (EEAS).

He said the alleged smear campaign, which he maintained had also been magnified by far-right networks, had been driven in part by Madrid's opposition to the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

An extraordinary combination of evidence that Epstein operated a Russian honeytrap and it directed Trump as a Russian asset

US capitalism has been extremely effectively exploited by the Russian deep state to a level that the whole Republican party is covering it up legally and commercially. The evidence is so overwhelming, it is full of admissions of so many people involved.

The platforms don't want to be perceived as legally responsible for content. So they treat it as individual bad actors/accounts.

This happened on FB when prominent Filipino journalists got death and rape threats. Turned out to be coordinated attacks by the regime.

Specific evidence is rather missing, but the modus operandi of Epstein and the Maxwells are way too similar to how the KGB is historically known to work. There are no moral or financial reasons to think that any of the two sides would want to shy away from such a partnership. On the contrary, it has very evident potential benefits.
