I don't need them to build another Shopify or some bullshit. Build a payment processor that doesn't cost so much to use. Make it platform agnostic. You don't help small businesses by kneecaping other small businesses (web developers).

I used to work for a startup back in 2009 that used semantic tagging and your social graph to improve results on the big three search engines. It was a pretty cool idea with the semantic tagging (type "apple" and you would get a drop down to select apple the fruit, Apple the tech brand, Apple the record label, etc.) and then your search results were filtered to what you were looking for. They pivoted and added your Facebook network so others using the system that you knew would prioritize results with the assumption that if you were searching for something that someone you knew had already searched for, it was likely that their findings were relevant. Yes, a ball of privacy issues to be sure. Always anonymous, and you could opt out of sensitive searches being included, etc. But, it did provide some means of social proof in your search results. Short lived job for me as funding ended and I moved on to create my own company.

Think you can still bring a bottle of your favourite Niagara red or Ontario-made whisky to your grandparents’ place in Florida?

Think again, according to trade lawyers and the Canadian Snowbird Association, who say there appears to be no personal exemption when it comes to Donald Trump’s import ban on a wide array of Canadian alcohol products.

That means you can no longer bring even a single bottle of Canadian-made beer, wine or spirits into the U.S. — whether you’re willing to pay duty on it or not, said international trade lawyer Barry Appleton.

“A ban is an absolute prohibition. A tariff is a price a person can pay, and a personal allowance can forgive a duty. Neither can make a prohibited good admissible,” said Appleton, co-director of the Center for International Law at New York Law School, and a fellow at the University of Waterloo’s Balsillie School of International Affairs.

A 4.6% hazy pale ale. Whisper sweet tasting notes of citrus and stone fruit. Hopped with Idaho 7, Luminosa, and Motueka, velvety-smooth start to finish.

One-off batch, now pouring, with cans to go.

I haven't tried this one yet, but spotted it on their socials. Probably swing by on the weekend to try it out and grab a slice.

I was happy to find a Reddit alternative but noticed something important was missing. If this place is found and grows, I'm happy to add mods and work to build what the group would like to see. If you've found this place, please share and help grow the community.

For now, the rules from Reddit seem a good place to start so:
    Rules:

    1. No Hate Speech/Bigotry - No racist, sexist, homophobic etc. slurs or bigotry. Yes, even if you think it's funny/part of a joke.
    2. Be Civil - Disagree all you want, but do so in a civil way. No posting with the intention of aggravating the community or mods.
    3. No call out posts (i.e. User X is a jerk).
    4. No self promotion of any kind without explicit permission from the mods.
    5. No posts attempting market research and/or industry surveys. If you have something especially interesting for us, ask the mods first (it better be good and you will have to share the results!)
    6. No injury photo posts
    7. Follow the PieFed content policy.
    8. Posts or comments that cause disruption or are otherwise unsuited to the subreddit will be removed at moderator's discretion.
    9. Don't be an asshole.
    10. Any posts or comments using AI must be disclosed as using AI.

Any violations of the above rules can/will result in a ban.
