The headline makes it sound like vibecoding was the main part in this, but in the text they describe an elaborate social engineering scheme that compromised the laptop.

"The engineer was asked to complete and download an “assignment” that contained malicious code that instantly executed once the employee began installing it. Among the things it changed was replacing a real development tool with a malicious version that could communicate with the hackers and execute commands.

That all took place in September. Starting in October, the hacker used the compromised employee machine to leverage an internal AI tool and use it as a “springboard” to seize control of the computer and the computer of a third wallet developer. "

    These are the requirements:

Fairphone has stated that they are confident in the security they are currently offering, so adding the cost of additional security hardware seems unlikely. If they were to change their minds, porting an OS to a new device and maintaining it is still a lot of work, so Graphene must also be fully on board with it.

I don't think that exists, but you might be interested in what Bonfire calls "archipelago mode". It's where instead of open federation being the default, an instance deliberately federates with selected other instances, which can result in a small group of instances cut off from the rest.

I read somewhere: Kids think that the adult drink is coffee, teenagers think that the adult drink is beer/wine, adults think that the adult drink is water.

My father was a hunter many years ago, until he realized that what he actually enjoyed was nature, being outdoors, seeing animals, etc. So he started bringing a camera instead of a rifle.

I don't fully agree, except for a small lock-in due to convenience (having one bill to pay instead of five). Interoperability is the key. To me an ecosystem is not inherently captive if I can easily pull out my data and use a different service. I do agree that some services are less valuable to have bundled, but some services work together, and that's the value in ecosystems. I also think Proton could be way more interoperable, but nothing is perfect I guess.
