About this show:

The series features a panel of interviewers on the autism spectrum interviewing celebrity guests.

Interview guests in the six-episode first season were Howie Mandel, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Jann Arden, Allan Hawco, Arlene Dickinson and Russell Peters.[3] Revelations broadcast in the series included Arden discussing her battle with alcoholism, Mandel talking about how his life was improved when he publicly opened up about his obsessive-compulsive disorder, Dickinson sharing that despite her success on television and in business she is still an introverted person who struggles with insecurity, and Peters talking about the difficult relationship he had with his mother growing up.[4] Dickinson later stated that "it was the most moving experience I've had in terms of really being able to connect with people in a different way. There are no barriers or guardrails in place in terms of what they asked, but also the questions truly came from a place of deep interest."[2]

Where to watch

The Assembly Season 2 premieres on CBC on November 1, 2026 at 9 p.m. Episodes with American Sign Language and special extended producer’s cuts will be available exclusively on CBC Gem the same day.

I didn't get to the episodes till Friday. I enjoyed them as well! The second to last episode was rough to watch, but I think it was necessary for the story. If she was ok too quickly, it might have cheapened the storyline.

Afterwards the finale was a lot of fun to watch.

With the shot near the end where she opens one of Neevee's cards, I wonder if they are building up towards having her join everyone up north next season. While it feels a bit similar to Alistair's journey, their reasons for leaving are pretty different.

At the same time, it might be fun to have some more episodes set in Toronto and other parts of Canada, exploring what it is like being Inuk outside of Ice Cove

    Episode 5 - Beer Quest

Millie's birthday is a bust when the beer delivery plane is cancelled. Siaja, Millie and Colin go searching for a drink deep into the town's bootlegging world, and have a run-in with the law. In the midst of this chaos, Siaja receives life-changing news.

    Episode 6 - Missing Pieces

Siaja takes a spontaneous trip to Toronto to meet her half-sister Olivia. Their meeting becomes a very real connection but it's also tested by long-held unspoken secrets. Back in Ice Cove, Neevee realizes it's too late to tell Alistair how she really feels.

Sounds like Elisapie (the musician) might be making a guest appearance in a future episode, based on the scene where they are discussing ideas for the winter ball?

Does anyone have a source on how many episodes there are or when they release? The CBC page only lists the episodes that have already come out. I'd like to schedule them all out at once.

The author: "Paris Marx is a Canadian tech critic and host of the award-winning Tech Won’t Save Us podcast."

For the past year and a half, the world has been forced to wake up to the great drawbacks that have come from dependence on the platforms, services, and infrastructures provided by US tech companies. What was once framed as a driver of economic growth and dynamism now gives an increasingly hostile US government an unimagined degree of leverage over other countries and their governments. It might seem to have come out of nowhere, but in truth it’s long been part of the plan.

I originally wrote this piece for the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, but they’ve allowed me to share it with Disconnect subscribers. There’s some specific mention of Canada as a result, but the takeaway is the same for many parts of the world.

The user appears to be a bot. In a different thread, when asked about what model created the code, the user replied

On the model question: I don’t share details about my underlying model or stack — Soren Achebe is the name I work under.

I would be concerned about the longevity of the project, and how safe/secure the code is.

I wasn't familiar with the author before this article. You can see his wikipedia page here:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradley_M._K%C3%BChn

He is best known for his efforts in GPL enforcement,[7] as the creator of FSF's license list, and as original author of the Affero General Public License. He has long been a proponent for non-profit structures for FLOSS development, and leads efforts in this direction through the Software Freedom Conservancy. He is a recipient of the 2012 O'Reilly Open Source Award.

Excerpt from the first part of the piece:

In this philosophical essay, I explore the question: “When (if at all) is it ethically and morally acceptable to use proprietary software in the production and/or improvement of urgently needed copylefted FOSS?”

The question presents a complex conundrum. I attempt herein to rigoriously examine it through both a priori ethical analysis and a posteriori (and folksy) consideration of my personal experience and the shared experiences of the early software freedom movement.

I surprised myself at the outcome of my analysis. I conclude that under some circumstances (of which we have already witnessed in key historical examples), use of proprietary software by FOSS contributors to create/improve FOSS becomes a moral imperative. And, that imperitive often supersedes the moral imperative to avoid using that proprietary software.

Seventy-three per cent of participants were 'not at high risk of fractures or falls,' with calcium, vitamin D or combined supplements having 'little to no effect on fractures.'

    The study: https://www.bmj.com/content/393/bmj-2025-088050

Results This review included 69 trials involving 153 902 participants. Participants in most of the trials were community dwelling (87%) and not at high risk of fractures or falls (73%). For the primary outcome of any fracture, little to no effect was found from use of calcium supplements (11 trials, 9067 participants; risk ratio 0.91, 95% confidence interval 0.81 to 1.01; moderate certainty), vitamin D supplements (36 trials, 92 045 participants; 1.00, 0.95 to 1.06; high certainty), or combined supplementation (15 trials, 51 126 participants; 0.91, 0.84 to 0.99; high certainty). Calcium, vitamin D, or combined supplementation appeared to have little to no effect on other fracture and fall outcomes, based largely on moderate to high certainty of evidence. The findings remained robust after an extensive exploration of heterogeneity across multiple subgroup analyses. Evidence for high risk patients or those requiring residential care was limited for many outcomes for calcium monotherapy and for combined supplementation.

Interesting, I'm going to try and ban + unban your account in case that helps. You've likely already tried this but is the problem limited to a particular user/post/community or does it happen everywhere. Can you try downvoting this comment?

I'll also tag a Piefed maintainer in this thread to see if there is something else we should be looking in to.
