'Control over the device' in botnets is practically also just the network. Bots are also created due to users being naive, like positioning iot devices open to the internet, running insecure stuff etc The exploit route for RPs is also malicious, social engineering. Get stuff for free. Nobody is actually aware of what they are doing here.

I agree on the superficial legality. Like a share hoster deleting links in stead of content etc.

Yesterday I read google disabled 1.3M devices that were part of a botnet.

What is the difference between a botnet and residential proxies?

Those proxies (SDKs) need to ne banned by the respective app stores.

To me, my feelings matter. To you they seem to matter, as you chose to enter a conversation with me :-) thanks for your empathy!

For your view on Nazis: I don't share this. I can see clear fascist components in the current government.

I cheer for the democratic win, I believe it is for the good of the nation and the world.

but I hate that I feel this was not Americans kicking out Nazis, but (to a large part) Americans whining about expensive dinosaur juice. Anyway, a win is a win.

    I have a BRAVIA 4K AE1 android/google TV.

Since a few weeks I observe the following:

If it's disconnected from the internet for some time, 1 or 2 weeks maybe, it hides all my installed apps. Enabling internet immediately restores everything for a few days.

I tried installing a custom launcher and set it as default launcher - TV still boots into its system launcher.

Any ideas what else to try?

    Self hosting relevant because jellyfin

Edit Fixed by enabling accessibility for this app. Thanks everyone who helped and @ryannathans@aussie.zone for pointing this out.

https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/post-install/networking/ tells me "Additionally, in local networks, Jellyfin offers various Auto-Discovery services. These will not work outside your local subnet."

Of course I don't run jellyfin in my main network, who in his right mind would do such a crazy thing. But of course I want Autodiscovery, because typing in names/IPs sucks.

So this is what one needs to do on his firewall to make it work:

    iptables -t mangle -A INPUT -s 10.0.2.0/24 -i family -d 255.255.255.255 -p udp --dport 7359 -j TEE --gateway 10.0.0.39 # copy received broadcast to the jellyfin network
iptables -A FORWARD -i jellyfin -o family -p udp --sport 7359 -j ACCEPT # allow the unicast response

with adjusted interface names and broadcast IPs. Thanks to https://odi.ch/weblog/posting.php?posting=731 for sharing - and the commenters there for improving.

Edit: My first version was like 7 policies, but things are simpler than I thought.... down to two.
