I think I figured out the leaps in logic: "That cries" must mean "during sex" must mean because it's non-consensual. Which I guess makes a little sense if you latch on to "don't even vibrate" for context?

But either way, if we're being that over the top then anyone being called a sex toy means that they have no agency, rude or not.

Digital information can be copied indefinitely. Every copy can be perfect, no degradation. It can be searched, have embedded cross-references and sent around the world in seconds. Books suck as a medium in comparison, and that's just for text.

Nothing wrong with data centers or information in digital formats, plenty of evil has been done using paper and ink as well. Fetishizing print makes no sense to me as a response to shitty practices.

I feel like I'm going insane with this stuff, is there really no better terminology? Because one huge factor with how people look is their general build, like how broad their shoulders are, for example. That, to me, looks like the biggest difference between the illustrations.

what personal gain is there to be had?

The satisfaction of being "on the good side" and "sticking it to the man" with righteous outrage, as usual with these things. I fucking hate AI, but trying to tear down Linus (and the rest of the Kernel team) over them trying to see if it makes sense to use is silly. They aren't planning to drop their rigorous QA or to accept code the submitter can't explain/maintain. Ethics are a concern, but since the end result will be FOSS I personally don't care as much either (YMMV).

I'm also really interested in hearing how this will go for them and what policies they will ultimately implement. I expect them to do this properly, which then means that everyone can point to their implementation when confronted with vibe coding at work. And then the suits will decide that they'd rather just do it cheap & fast, fucking everything up yet again, but at least they will have been told so.
