How are you scheduling your climate/hvac temperatures? I'm currently using the scheduler card, which works ok, I'm just wondering if there's a better option available. I just need a simple way to schedule the daily schedules.

I have a heat pump/mini splits, so I'd like to be able to schedule these independently. I do usually have them off in the summer, and a couple of the integrations I've looked at don't have that ability, just a minimum temperature. I could however, just disable the schedule during summer, I haven't fully decided on that yet.

I'm just curious what others are using/prefer.

A couple I've looked at, but seem like overkill for simple scheduling (feel free to tell me I'm wrong/overlooked something):

  1. velair
  2. versatile thermostat
  3. there was another I looked at briefly and don't remember the name, but realized it was vibe-coded, so those aren't generally maintained very long

Edit: the minisplits I have don't have an actual thermostat. I use esphome controllers to control each one via wifi

All 4 of my drives are refurbs from serverpartdeals. They typically come with a 2-3 year SPD replacement warranty. Mine just happened to pass 3 years in April of this year. This is the first failure for me.

ETA: I think I'll change my title to refurbished.

I've had a hard drive throw a fault on my truenas zfs pool, so probably need to buy a replacement. I know about serverpartdeals, but seem to recall another fairly cheap refurb hard drive seller when I bought these 4 years ago. I just don't remember the name. What retailers are you using for hard drives these days if you have a failure?

    In the US btw.

I'll also try just reseating cables in a bit once the scrub finishes. (just in case that's all it is)

ETA: the other retailer is goharddrive.com. I'm still interested to hear other suggestions if anyone has them.

Edit2: luckily reseating power and sata cables appear to have fixed it for now. the drive is resilvering, so hopefully I'm good. Thanks everyone for the recommendations, as I know one will fail at some point.

Interesting that you can use BT for this. I have a spare googled phone for stuff that doesn't work on graphene that I don't feel like troubleshooting for more than a few hours that I used to add an aqara deadbolt.

Honestly, after all the troubleshooting with matter (I didn't have ipv6 prior and didn't really see a need internally for it) I wish I had gone with a different deadbolt as it was the first matter device and currently still only one.

Thanks for the UL link, I was looking for some way to search for those briefly.
Edit: I didn't see the XP0J-SA listed in any of those unfortunately

this part from their website is for the MS-1 interlink product page, so I think those are still battery only unfortunately.

I did briefly look at these, from what I can tell these are still battery only correct?

From their webpage: Power Built-in 7-year detection battery + replaceable CR123A module battery

The reviews of the official replacement (FA SC-5) are mixed to awful. Yeah, I think I had heard/read that, they're not really in my list at the moment.

My least favorite noise is the low battery chirp that normal smoke detectors emit when low at night. I'm looking to replace my 8 hardwired smoke alarms with new ones that don't have that. I just moved and miss my nest protects only bc this sound doesn't happen. I've read that protects have been discontinued and replaced with these sc5's from first alert . Since I've degoogled I don't really need the "protect integration"

So I need hardwired interconnects (US law afaik bc existing are hardwired) but mostly would like the voice alerts and no battery chirp. I've read that xsense is fairly decent but these new ones that have the voice alerts don't appear to be UL certified so that's a no-go, unless I've just missed it.

I was looking at the anyplace alarms as I saw them in another thread, but can't tell if the low battery notification is a chirp or not? Anyone had any experience with these? They also appear to be out of stock on home depot so no idea if/when they'll be available.

I'm open to all options that are hardwired.

ETA: I've reached out to x-sense to see if the XP0J-SA is UL/ETL certified. I'm waiting to hear back

I'm looking for a replacement for framework 16 laptop for light devops (mostly stuff for homelab, training) that can also be usable outdoors (antiglare/antireflective if possible) for watching TV, possibly light outdoor work. that's possibly modular like framework and has touch screen for tablet mode, but not finding anything that hits all these.

what I've looked at so far:
surface pro - this was what I thought was a great compromise, I bought an 8 before I heard about anti glare screens. I bought an 'anti-glare screen protector' but it doesn't help much outdoors
starlabs starfighter - doesn't appear to have any modular features, also can't tell if matte is the same thing as anti-glare? no touch screen thinkpad t14 (various gen) - does appear to have ant-glare screen option, but not modular
yoga - no anti-glare option that found
macbooks - saw this mentioned somewhere for the screen for outdoors. newer versions don't have asahi linux support, no touch screen.
getac f110 - appears to be more of a straight rugged tablet than laptop, not sure how well these work for indoor use for devops stuff.

I'm also considering splitting functionality if necessary (laptop without touch/antiglare, but modular. and outdoor tablet with anti-glare/touch screen if it saves money). this is my current config anyways (framework for devops stuff, pixel tablet for lighter stuff) the tablet is basically useless outdoors though. I don't mind buying used, it would probably be more cost-effective for all the features I want anyways.

I'm open to any and all suggestions at this point. Price wise I was hoping to stay under $1500, but not sure how feasible that is, so it's not a hard limit.

Has anyone gotten navidrome mobile apps to work with traefik and authentik sso? I used this article to get the webapp sso to work, but mobile apps won't work even with the /rest path supposedly being bypassed. the traefik config was copied/modified for my setup, so I think the article is still missing something.

I've tried a couple navidrome apps: dsub, tempo, tempus.

    tldr: is this possible?

I'm trying to move from docker compose to podman quadlets and while I've got some basic differences down I'm having an issue with using quadlets in proxmox lxc. it works fine in a vm, so my question is, has anyone gotten quadlets to work in a lxc? And if so, how do I fix the below error?

when I try to take a working quadlet file from a vm to lxc I get the following error:

Failed to connect to user scope bus via local transport: No such file or directory

I've tried researching the error and did all the troubleshooting in this url: https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-fix-failed-to-connect-to-system-scope-bus-error-in-linux

which suggests it's because systemd isn't running, but it is.

    podman@podman-test:~$ ps aux | grep systemd~
    podman 349 0.0 0.2 3508 1480 pts/1 S+ 19:55 0:00 grep systemd~

again, I'm very new to quadlets so it's very possible I'm missing something.

    Thanks in advance!

ETA: I prefer lxc for the resource overhead savings.

Edit2: running rootless podman on proxmox 9 Debian lxc. I've also tried Alma Linux lxc

edit3: not sure where to go from here. as shown systemd doesn't appear to be running, but dbus is and a reinstall of dbus doesn't fix the issue. for now I think I'm going to stick to vm until I can figure this out.
