I dreamed my small elderly terrier jumped into a wide stream and sank to the bottom and didn't come up as soon as I expected him to. I jumped in, found him tangled in water weeds at the bottom, and pulled him out. I held him upside down to let water stream out of him. He coughed up a silver-green frog.

My dog IRL hates water.

Mine are nested, because the old desktop folder lives on the desktop. I haven't yet hit a limit for how many characters Windows allows in a directory structure. (I know there was one on previous versions of Windows, not sure about the current one)

I appreciate the suggestions, but last I heard we were looking at the sort of basic battery-operated doorbell you install using 3m strips at your 1890s triple-decker college apartment, no camera or anything half as fancy. I'd be happy with a door knocker (low tech and reliable) if the HOA wouldn't have kittens.

(I know, I know, HOA, but the condo is so much cheaper than renting, and shared governance makes sense when you share a roof.)

I have a ring camera. It came with the townhouse and it sucks. We're considering replacing it because it doesn't even consistently work as a door bell because either we keep needing to charge it or it's on too crowded a wireless band, not sure which.

Did you know you have to subscribe to even record videos? Screw that.

Also the privacy concerns, but that ship has sailed in my particular case because both my nextdoor neighbors have ring cameras, as well as at least 3 units across the street.

I signed up because I was curious, I'm still a mod, and they promised swag. (My subreddit voted against moving over to lemmy and it's fine, I guess. They're the only reason I'm still over there at all.)

It was interesting--I've not watched all of it, but it was very high energy.

My biggest takeaway was that OMG they don't care about hearing-impaired mods. The subtitles were auto-generated and, even a few hours later, still had very obvious errors. For example, "a mod" was consistently transcribed as "Ahmad". "I love r/stupiddovenests and r/gardening" became "I love our stupid dove nests and our gardening". Very distracting.

Anyways, after the event you get to pick your swag--either a plushie or 'digital swag'. I'm going with the snoo plushie because it looks about the right size for my dog to hump, and he likes to take out his aggression against white plushies (the color of my other dog, who passed away a few years ago. He still growls at videos of her because he's a butthead).
