So, is the margin of victory enough to shut the moderates up about how running a left leaning campaign is a bad idea? I’m thinking 2028 could have a raft of labor friendly universal healthcare supporting candidates in places like Texas if the Democratic Party can get its head out of its ass.

There’s a skit on one of Jon Benjamin’s jazz piano albums where he tries to sell his soul in exchange for being a great jazz pianist, and the devil (played by Aziz Ansari) is astonished that Jon has never played piano before.

A few years ago a friend of mine commented that Texas even being questionable (this was when Beto ran against Ted Cruz) was good because it meant the GOP had to spend money in Texas rather than using the state like a bank account to fund races in swing states. Texas turning blue is a massive blow to the national GOP.

Of course now we all need to hammer on our reps to move forward on real progressive legislation, like abolishing ICE and instituting universal healthcare and higher education.

Charlottesville, Virginia, spent most of a decade revising its zoning code.

    It held endless community meetings.

It gave opponents ample opportunity to make their case.

    They lost.

But a handful of rich homeowners sued and have gotten the new Charlottesville zoning code overturned on a technicality.

These millionaire homeowners, who could not persuade Charlottesville residents and could not win at the ballot box, decided they would throw everything they had to nullify their defeat. And it worked 😠
