I assume they are only recalled in the United States? From reading the article, it appears there is nothing wrong with them, the problem is just that some people are too stupid to either use a non metal utensil to stir inside a glass carafe, or to stir carefully. The fix is a warning label, and sending you a plastic strirrer. This seems like the sort of thing that would only happen in the U.S.

Here's my answer to the G&T but autumny instead of summery.

    • 1 oz gin
    • 3/4 oz Becherovka
    • 1/2 oz cider syrup, aka boiled cider
    • A couple dashes of Peychaud's / creole bitters
    • 1/2 a small bottle of tonic, 3-3.5 ounces (I'm using Fever-tree light tonic)

I like a few dashes of sour cherry bitters (Miracle Mile) in this too, when I happen to have some, but I by no means consider this part the recipe.

Boiled cider, btw, is just apple cider that has been boiled down to concentrate it into a syrup. You can make your own or buy it like I do. It's nice to have on hand, you can make kind of an instant hot apple cider with it. It seems to last for years even unrefrigerated. It brings a tartness that fills the role of lime in a G&T.

I tried it with pear syrup (Monin) the other day. Didn't work, pear is too delicate.

How do you eat a very large package of cookies?

The same way as a smaller package, it just takes longer. You have the experience of eating cookies across more days than with the smaller package. Just as with the smaller package, you just do this until the package is done. If you get tired of eating this kind of cookie after a while, maybe it sits in your pantry untouched for a few weeks until you feel like eating that kind of cookie again.

Also to get updates, so a game is already updated when you go to play it.

I don't normally leave it running, but I might leave it running to let all the updates happen since i might not have run it in months. Then I might forget about it and leave it running for a day of two.

Power does tempt people to abuse it, and they regularly give in to that temptation. While I'm not in agreement with the person you are arguing with, I do believe people cannot be trusted with power, and therefore there need to be checks, and recourse, and the more power a person has, the more they need to be monitored rather than trusted. (Police are an example. Politicians are and example. Hollywood producers area an example.)

There is also a selection mechanism at play. People who like to abuse power seek it out.

I'd forgotten about Myrlyn. I guess I never switched over to it from the older YaST software updater, which does not have the equivalent of 'zypper dup'. But from what I read now, Myrlyn does, so that is good.

Discover does not, however. Not only does it not do the equivalent of 'zypper dup' it does not resolve package conflicts that can arise with external repos.

For anyone reading whose not familiar, on Tumbleweed, 'zypper dup' (or the Myrlyn equivalent) is what you need to run periodically to update to the latest snapshot (and being a rolling distro, new snapshots come out anywhere from every day to every few days, depending how the automated testing goes).

openSUSE Tumbleweed has a graphical installer you can use to install, remove, update applications, browse, search, etc. But you still need to run a command line 'zypper dup' to fully update the system.

Can confirm latex foam is good stuff, I have a latex foam mattresses that has lasted decades. Not all foam is the same tho, so maybe look into what kind of foam is in whichever couch you consider. Some seem to use memory foam. If you look at one of those, make sure you know what your getting into and whether you like that. I have no experience or opinion on memory foam myself but one person I know regrets their memory foam mattress. I think it has to do with heat and feeling held in place when the foam warms up and they sink in.
