It's going to vary for everyone, but retro basically just means old stuff, so it's always a moving target.

When I was playing the NES, games like Pong and Donkey Kong and Pac Man felt retro. When I was playing the N64, NES games felt retro. Nowadays, PS1 and N64 definitely feel retro to me. I don't think I'm ready to call the Wii retro yet, but I know most people probably accept it as retro now.

A couple interesting ones that I remember:

    • Haunting starring polterguy
    • Jurassic Park
    • Aladdin
    • Ghostbusters
    • Castle of illusion starring Mickey mouse
    • Road Rash 2 (maybe it doesn't hold up these days)

I remember getting a DS, and just being amazed that I could just close it, and my game would be paused and I could just open it back up the next day and keep playing right where I left off.

Why do I keep seeing articles saying that the bot activity dropped, then other articles saying "actually it didn't drop", and now more articles saying it dropped again?

Longplays of that game on YouTube are about 1 hour long. You aren't really expected to complete it on the first time through, and by the time you get good at it, you should basically know how to get through it quickly.

From reading the article it sounds like they get constant accusations from people who don't do even the minimum effort to look into it. If you have to separately defend yourself to 1000 different people because they are all to lazy to read the info you have already published, it becomes unreasonable.

If you aren't already familiar with it, hukumusume.com is a wonderful resource full of Japanese children's stories. However, the web design is straight out of the year 2000, and some of the stories can still be fairly challenging to read, even if they are for kids.

So, I ran all the stories through a difficulty analyzer to sort them from easiest to hardest, and I also created a userscript to strip all of the junk out of the website and just leave the story content. You just need a browser extension like Violentmonkey or Tampermonkey to enable the userscript. It lets you toggle dark mode, increase the font size, enable/disable images, and more. Very readable on mobile devices now, and you can even use Yomitan to help with unknown words or to mine sentences for Anki.
