First day of uni. Having lunch with 3 people.

"Hey do any of you watch my little pony?"

I burst out laughing. Turns out guy was super serious. He was convincing enough that he managed to get me to watch half of friendship is magic before I decided i would never talk to him again.

Unpopular opinion but the British aren't even that bad. They are only hated so much because they have been really good at a lot of things and drinking too much. The foundation most of the world is based on is British and it's easy to miss.

Historically they think, or at least seem to think, learning English is beneath them. In fact doing anything not French is beneath them. Then they act like wankers and that's why everyone hates them.

English is the dominate language and the Chinese even accepted it before the French. At this point the youth have sort of given up and end up consuming a lot of media and internet in English so it's way better. Also the lingua franca of Europe is English so they got to learn it just to speak to everyone else, but they don't really and as such have probably the worst english is western Europe and even most of Europe in general.

I just don't see this taking off. The solution is werid.

Factory build houses seem way more likely but they also have big issues. Namely cost being a barrier to entry and scale. Hopefully china or India or even china in Africa sort it on a mass scale and the economics get proven.

Ah yes companies that famously refine oil only to pour it into a hole and light it on fire for their own amusement, one else uses it at all.

If it's just these companies that would be affected let's just close them down. I'm sure it would make no difference whatsoever.

Strange games this weekend. Don't feel much of a contest with any.

Hope australia and France is good.

Fiji might be an upset. Would borthwick make it to the end of the tournament in that case?

Hope Wales turn up for the first time in two years, maybe but I don't expect it.

"Healthier Comforts has rolled out an animal-free egg white protein powder in the US, which features The Every Company’s precision-fermented OvoPro ingredient, the company has confirmed to Green Queen."

Precision fermentation is a biotechnology that uses genetically engineered microorganisms (yeast, fungi, or bacteria) as cell factories to produce specific, high value functional ingredients like proteins, fats, and enzymes. It creates identical, sustainable alternatives to animal derived products with 96% less land and 87% less water.

I'm glad to see this tech taking off as it could have huge impacts on the environment while reducing costs for food and no killing and suffering of animals for things like eggs or milk.

"Precision fermentation involves inserting a DNA sequence into microbes to teach them to produce specific molecules when fermented – in The Every Co’s case, these include proteins conventionally found in chicken eggs.

The company’s OvoPro ingredient can replace egg whites’ functionality in a range of applications, and OvoBoost is a highly soluble, taste- and texture-neutral protein equivalent to glycoprotein. In addition, it has developed an animal-free pepsin that acts as a digestive protein. Each has been approved for sale by the US Food and Drug Administration."

"* Ming Yang Smart Energy Group announced plans to build the world’s largest floating wind turbine, as Chinese firms seek a larger share of the global market.

    • The firm is working on a 50-megawatt, two-headed turbine, with mass production scheduled for next year, and aims to offer a cost of less than 10,000 yuan per kilowatt.
    • China remains a standout in the global offshore wind industry, with its largest turbine makers lobbying the government to accelerate installations, which would more than double output by the end of the decade."
