I don't know, small personal websites and webrings are having a bit of a comeback. Federated networks are humming along ,if not growing. AI is, ironically, making it much easier for people to build their own tools and ditch SaaS.

I still have hope for a decentralization comeback.

To be fair "non-harassing way" is a bit subjective. I've seen dudes have success with methods that I would consider "harassing". I've also seen guys condemned as creeps for approaching women at what I'd consider a reasonable time & place.

And the loudest most unreasonable people on both sides dominate the narrative online, which makes the whole topic seem more fraught to young guys than it really is in real life.

The truth is one person's "playful teasing" is another person's "harassment". You have to develop your sense of empathy and feel it out on a case by case basis. Pretending this black and white doesn't help anybody.

I hope you're right. That would mean us younger generations managed to right the ship.

If society progresses to the point where my grandkids are condemning me for eating non-lab-grown meat or something it will be in spite of the boomers best efforts - and due to us younger generations dragging them kicking and screaming onto a more sustainable path.

    Progress is not an inevitability.

It's not about what they failed to fix, it's about what they actively fucked up.

As a voting block, their demographic consistently did the opposite of "Plant trees under which shade you will never sit." At every turn they sacrificed their children's future for short term profit.

    Boomers deserve their selfish reputation.
