Yeah this is straight up wrong from my practical testing
From the talk: It doesn't need MAS as that's built in, and calls work.
This is not developed by the foundation or Element.
It's being funneled to aligned projects like hyprland and so on
Stone cold describes temperature just as often. Right??
I send my grafana alerts via Matrix (selfhosted) and Email (paid service), so either way it reaches me. Has worked out well enough so far
The hardest bit is encryption, you can get a basic app or bot running trivially from scratch if you don't care about that. People successfully wrote matrix apps for years before the Rust SDK existed, and there are plenty of other bits of the matrix ecosystem that don't use it (mautrix/Beeper is mostly written in go!). The Rust SDK is nice to use and give a bunch of bonus features on top, so that's why it's popular.

This post misses, uh, a few important things that get mentioned in the lobsters comments: https://lobste.rs/s/bytzgl/git_3_0_s_upcoming_sha_256_default_will_be
If only drones weren't regulated to death in the UK :(
I mean, a new beta was released today, and some of the components are shared between the apps
Schlidinext is basically element X android but better (it's a soft fork), and supports tables and spoilers and all that
Brexit wasn't good enough I see, they want to move the whole country to the mid-atlantic
Brits on their way to leave the continent:
Many languages do not have the same set of sounds as English - a stereotypical example being Japanese, which merges L and R - and so words that use those sounds are difficult to pronounce
I did (and the talk has a very high view count on youtube). The guy is a good presenter, and seems aware of his audience, and I thought his ideas for the desktop were interesting, but everything he was saying and showing was entirely full of holes that could be poked into it, and is something that was, uh, unnecessary to present.
Honestly whoever made that poster on the right doesn't know ANYTHING, girl on the right is giving wayy more confidence, which is the only thing that matters.
This paper seems to be filled with mistakes and generally stating the obvious for anyone passingly familiar with the protocol and server administration in general.
Even figure 2 / paragraph 2 is incorrect, the cross-signing keys aren't derived, they're encrypted by the master key, which is the only derived key. Then there's stuff like using effectively deprecated database setups and client apps, not disabling debug logs, and so on.
I would not put this as recommended reading lol
We're still developing it! New major version soon!
