I'm currently using zennotes. It has a self hosted option which is a web version.
Hi! Nice progres! The pain you feel is normal, you're using your legs in a way your body isn't used to. It should resolve itself after some time. I suggest you practice braking at some point, imo the most important skill. The more you get comfortable at higher speeds, the more you need to be able to lean way back to brake. Also, which model EUC do you have? You should try to experiment with the pedal hardness setting. This can greatly modify the feel and each person likes different feels. I personally prefered stiffer pedals while learning, but now I'm full on noodle mode (very soft) unless I'm goint in trails.
I'm 40 years old, so I can understand you, but I'd say that the community average is a bit older than me. You'll eventually get legs of steel.
My only downside about EUC is the gear. Having to put on and off all the gear when I get out is sometimes annoying, but necessary. Besides that, it's the most versatile, powerful, with the most range for the small package that it is. And by far the most fun mean of transportation there is imo. At some point it becomes intuitive and an extension of your body, it's a great feeling.
Some of our best riders here use work boots. I personally think they don't protect the ankle enough. I currently use the Falco Advantour 2 boots. They are between motorcycle boots that offer no ankle twist protection and full on MTX rigid boots. I'd like to find wider boots with the same amount of protection though.
I was riding my EUC, a Leaperkim Lynx. I was in a bike lane, passing a car that was stopped on the road waiting to turn right. Right when I was going to pass him, he moved as if he was turning, but stopped. In a fraction of a second I had to make a decision and decided I should pass him on the left side which was too late for that. I thought he was going to cut me off. Hit him in the back. I hit him at around 40-45 km/h. Shit happens. I could have slowed down a lot beforehand, that would have helped a lot, but anyway it's hard to say when you're in the moment.
Get a motorcycle helmet as others said. Also, good gloves (erides max p1 ideally. And an overlooked item is motorcycle boots that protect the ankles. I had an accident 6 months ago and broke my femur. I'm convinced that without those things, it could have been worse.
Don't cheap out on gear. Never forget: all the gear, all the time. And you don't dress for the ride, you dress for the slide.
I'm surprised when I talk to people and almost always hear that they bring their bike to a shop for maintenance and repair. I'm usually the strange one who do his own maintenance and repairs. So I can believe that most people bring their bike to a mechanic. The 90% figure still seems high though.
In Quebec it depends. In Montreal people say weekend, but in Quebec city they say "la fin de semaine". I pretty much think it's fin de semaine in most regions too. It's just that the Montreal metropolitan area is half the population.
I personally heard a lot of french people say weekend too, not fin de semaine.
I think I agree with this. When you look at what apple does, they take their time and wait to make sure the UX is good. Recently, we see it with the iPhone duo where they waited to have a product that looks nice, isn't too bulky and they reworked the UI to make sure the UX is good. They are not the type to dive head first into the AI slop, it's not their type. But internally, I'm sure they are experimenting and trying to polish the features for a good UX.
I personnaly dislike Apple for other reasons, but I must give credit where credit is due. It is imo a good philosophy that I could get behind, but in Apple's case, there are too many red flags.
I'm in Canada and it's Lac Ontario for me. (In French)
I used to use KOreader and calibre web NextGen together. But koreader isn't nice to use on my current phone as the auto rotate doesn't really work. So I moved to librera. I'm missing the progress sync, but since I mostly read on my phone, it's fine.
Are you sure about chaotic? I removed it as I thought it wasn't really checked as I read in a comment here.
It's a long time crusade from RFK. No need to short the stock or anything. RFK is just applying his dogma instead of real science and since he believes in bullshit, he will try to do everything he can to shut down science in favour of his beliefs. At this point the question is out on how many millions of deaths he will be responsible for with his policies, but it sure will be in the millions. He's an agent of death.
Trump is just a puppet.
