The science on it shows they are effectively useless. What they do is put messaging out that may have long term changes. But quick changes? They typically are worse for messaging. Know what works even better? Voting and participation in government.

Not sure if you have stayed in US hotels lately, now they don't clean (except between people, COVID really took care of that) and more and more hotels are adding 'Destination Fees' that are supposed to provide benefits but don't. Oh, we charge you an extra $40 a night, and here is a free voucher for $15 in food from our cafe where prices are 5x.

The capitalism greed speed run lately is exhausting.

    Leaders actually listen to some.extent.

Do they? I haven't seem a lot of meaningful changes in France due to protests in the last 10-20 years. Perhaps you have a list of them that a directly due to protests? It seems like the ruling class, leadership and in general regular people just ignore protests as 'part of life'.

Maybe I lived in a poorer area, but growing up the only people that had calculator watches were the people who probably would have gotten beaten up and had them stolen. There was a long period of time that kids would say why do I have to memorize that, there is a calculator for it. By the time I was in college, it was already rapidly progressing to, why do I have to write down my steps, Wolfram Alpha can do that for me. For me, it quickly got to the point in math that a calculator wasn't really useful for tests to begin with.

Pretty smooth process , plus it helps keep someone employed and not me working for my own groceries I’m paying for.

Keeping someone employed for the sake of employment is the exact opposite thing that should happen. If you can pump your own gas, why should you be forced to have someone else do it for you?

And they will point to the self checkouts. The better idea is not to use them or go to stores that have them, but at least in my area its the majority of places. However this seems like the old argument of forcing someone to pump gas for you to save someone's job. Very few complain about putting gas in their own vehicles.
