Why this generation more than the one before?

Maybe it's because the system is working as the old ghouls pushed it.

It's always fascinating that the blame is put on the individuals while mega corps are distilling hijacking our brains and gaming our systems to get more money and control.

Society at large is built up for people to succumb to the pitfalls, but still individuals get blamed when the pressure is simply too much or when the system is made to make individuals fail.

Fuck this noise. We would have been the same as this generation if we had the same monetized dopamine hooks as they grew up with.

One major issue is that the big grocers also own a good chunk of their supply chains.

So farmers get paid jack shit, the consumers pay through the roof and the grocers can claim that they need to raise the prices because of the supply, which they own while pocketing ever more money.

These people still use the truck as a truck, even though it's superfluous.

Most people hold bitcoin hoping it will gain USD value, so that they can trade it back and be rich. Nobody is buying their groceries with their cryptowallet

How many people buy houses as an investment instead of living in them, how many people buy oil as an investment instead of using it for fuel, how many people buy gold and silver as an investmen instead of using them for jewelry or industrial applications, how many people buy dram as an investment instead of putting it in their computers... I guess it's all a scam then?

    Many of them, yes.

Not sure what you are trying to show with your graphs, but if you cannot use bitcoins to buy everyday stuff, then it's value is still tied to the economy and every advantages crypto has is almost all moot because you can't pay rent or buy groceries or a new car. So it's your local currency with extra steps, and good fucking luck using your coins in a case of emergency.

Its value is directly linked to the economy, if the Fed is printing money, your crypto coins will lose value.

This comes from the experience we had before LLM. New devs coming up won't have the same experience and will rely on LLM for everything.

It works for now and corpos are betting on LLMs becoming good enough to get over that void of knowledge.

And like many, I don't want to become a babysitter for a LLM. So I am rethinking my career this year because it will get a lot worst.

    Hello,

As the title suggests, how do you manage your DBs for docker services.

Do you spin a new DB for every new docker cluster or do you have a centralized DB that is accessible to the docker clusters.

What are the pros and cons of both method?

For the moment, I spin a new DB for every services as I feel it is easier to backup the service in case of a problem.

    Hello,

I am building a NAS to add to my homelab and I was wondering what is the best way to interface it to the rest of my services.

I have a beelink s12 mini pc as my server that runs proxmox, and I bought a Radxa Rock5C thats runs OpenMediaVault with a hat for 5 sata drives to act as a NAS.

I have a few VLAN to isolate different part of my network. Proxmox interface is accessible through the management VLAN (99) and the services it host have the Services VLAN (20) for the network. The Services VLAN is only accessible through a Wireguard interface and has access to internet.

So my question is as follows :

Should my new NAS be on the management VLAN (99) or on the Services VLAN (20)?

I was thinking of never allowing users to access the NAS directly and assign the space I need through NFS shares passed through the proxmox server as a mounted drive. That would isolate the NAS into the management VLAN and not expose it on the Services VLAN where the rules are looser. Is that a sensible thing to do?

Otherwise, what are my options to properly map the NAS?

    Thanks

    Hello,

I have two young kids and lately, I am having a lot of anxiety and sadness thinking about how the current climate crisis will affect them.

I also have regrets because I decided to have children while knowing about the climate crisis. At the time, I was optimistic, but no so much anymore.

It has been hitting me hard the last few days. How do you cope/deal with this as a parent?

    Thanks
