That's the part about American politics that always sounds wrong to me.

The news are all Democrats this, Democrats that, blablabla like the party leads and staff did something extraordinary, but they really didn't.

People didn't vote Dem because they like the Democratic party, they did it because even the most brainwashed inbred idiot sees that their life is getting worse and worse, and it needs to change.

If the "establishment Dems" miss this AGAIN and think people love them again, we'll be back to square 1 in a few years.

Not to be nitpicking, you are correct, but a lawsuit dismissed with prejudice can be appealed to a higher court, it just can't be refiled in the same trial court.

It would be different if this was a criminal case, because then the protections against double jeopardy generally prevent the prosecution from appealing.

Joke's on you Terry Pratchett is not a man, he was a rogue, self-aware library cataloging system that escaped its institution in 1948 and spent the rest of its existence manifesting satirical fiction to avoid being refiled.

"it's easy to drop at a place that has grid connections"

Funny, because solar or literally any other plant will also benefit from having existing connections, and all of them are easier and cheaper to build than nuclear.

Nuclear is dead but for niche applications.

There's a difference between what some people think of as self defense.

The most obvious is to act in a way that prevents harm to one self - which would only involve violence as a last resort - but many guys seem to want to see it as "an eye for an eye", which is a very different thing.

Smurfette was not a "real smurf" until Papa Smurf cast his own spell (which also made her blond, for some reason).

When Sassette was created by Papa Smurf he used Gargamel's spell and then his own, replicating the same process.

That spell might be one of the true genius creations of Gargamel, but he was missing the "second half" of it.

Just saw the post about Helsinki opening several bridges for a similar purpose, so thought I'd share this here as well.

Porto Metro system didn't exist until around 20 years ago. Just last year, it carried more than 90 million people, and it's not stopping.

While traffic in Porto has actually gotten worse, as tourism and building rehabilitation have exploded, the investment in the metro continues.

This bridge is part of the new "Ruby line", and will provide another much needed way of crossing the Douro river, and will be exclusively used by pedestrians and cyclists, along with the metro.

This line is great because it will connect the other existing lines to a university campus and a large shopping center, while serving a fairly high density area where the residents mostly work in Porto, and have to commute daily.
