You can have a hosted e-mail system with your own domain, many service providers will do this. They would have the storage, archive, etc. on their servers. Access would be a web client, e-mail client of your choice, or a bridge demon. Option 2 is a hosted vertual server, so your self hosting but renting a VM server on a providers data center, they take care of the hardware, power, backup (sometimes depending on service), etc. You would set up your OS and e-mail services.

I use a combo of this, I have a service with my own domain and point my MX records there, I use a bridge and a sctipt to pull backups and store them locally but use their email clients for mobile and Thunderbird on PCs.

Edit: FWIW I've been using Proton (paid version) for this but will be moving to hosted virtual server at some point, when I get a minute to migrate. I expect the cost to be about the same

Membrane keypad would have 2 issues that would prevent it, first the membrane is most likely not heat resistant like flexable PCBs and would melt if you tried to solder to it, second the black traces on the membrane are made of powdered carbon in a binder and would not take the solder or would break apart. You could use a pressure fit to hold the contact of the switch to the traces if you where somehow able to hold the switch in place.

So I have my shack in the garage and that is lit by 12 or so LED shop lights. Each light unit is made up of 100 or so surface mount LED and the lighting is great BUT these things put out so much RFI across every band that I have to run shack operations in the dark with only an incandescent bulb. I want & need the nice bright shop lights and would rather run LEDs, Does anyone know of some LED shop lights that are RF quiet?

OK, my stove (range), won't turn on the convection heater or fan when set to convection bake, convection roast, etc.

I followed the flow chart in the service manual and the relay RY508 & RY506 did not have the needed 120V AC when it should have so I replaced the main board with the same part no. and revision and have the same symptoms.

Digging in further I did the following.

    1. Checked the TCO fuse
    2. Checked all the connections and connectors where correct an well seated based on the connection diagram in the service manual
    3. Checked all the wiring to make sure there was continuity from start to end of every wire
    4. Checked the thermal sensor for correct resistance at 72⁰, 0⁰, and 150⁰ (also used a external oven thermometer to verify the displayed temp)
    5. Checked the meat probe line to make sure there was no short
    6. And finally I jumped the base of the NPN transistors controlling the relay to 5v, (5v high logic) this turned the relay on and the respective fan/heater worked, the base of these transistors is connected directly to the microcontroller, the emmiter is connected to gnd. Collector is connected to the relay coil and a flyback diode. See the diagrams below.

So this last thing is definate that the microcontroller is not calling for the relay to come on and everything else in the circuit is working. So now I'm stuck, the connection between the display/touch panel board and the main board is using a UART style communication that from my scope is putting out expected 5v serial looking signal and all other functions are working except that the oven is slow to heat since it uses the convection heater as a boost (that is not working).

Has anyone run into this? See anything I missed? Does anyone have a timing/logic diagrams for the microontrollers? Is there any firmware for these boards?

So I got a new radio because my 2m died (30 yr old or more radio shack HTH242). Anyway this one has a USB host port on the side that is not called out in the manual (the programming cable connect to the mic jack). There is also TV/AV jack that is also not mentioned in the manual. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm working on self hosting a e-cloud server ( for e/os phones). The mail server component of it wants to have a rDNS PTR record from my public IP back to mail.<myDomain.com>. I can't do that since I'm using dDNS and my ISP won't give me that ability unless I have business service (very expensive). The ISP I have is my only choice and I hate them. I have DNS Zones hoisted elsewhere to handle my dDNS scripts for everything but rDNS. So on tyo my question, Anyone know of a way to get a public IP service that will allow me to make a rDNS PTR entry and forward all traffic to my real public IP? Would that even work?

EDIT: Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I have considered VPS but I'm trying to save the extra cost of the VPS and also like the idea of having all my data where I can actually touch it. I was hoping for something like a reverse proxy service I could get with DNS and a static IP (so I could have rDNS) for cheaper than a VPS since I would not need the storage, CPU, etc.
