The big 400MW data centre project announced for Tupper Point in Nova Scotia and touted as a big invest-in-Canada win is going have Anthropic as its anchor resident on a 20-year lease. We're all tied up together.

All this hoopla over associate membership is consistent with dumb European governance that I don't want to live with. Good friends? Yes. Wanting to share a roof? No. This has just been a bunch of pointless nonsense distracting from the things that actually matter and the EU leaders come across like used car salespeople in how hard they've been pitching this.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the next great technological transformation. It is imperative to Canadians’ prosperity, security, and sovereignty that we build and govern these technologies on our own terms. The opportunity to cement that autonomy is now. The decisions we make today will determine whether Canadians have that choice – to use secure, sovereign, Canadian-made AI – for decades to come.

To that end, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney, today announced the Government of Canada’s commitment to making an equity investment of up to $1.6 billion in Cohere. This is a commercial investment, announced alongside private investors, including NVIDIA, Bell, and Schwarz Group.

Since we've got ambitions to build a military industrial complex, it's a good thing to have customers who are supporting brutal wars. Well, at least as long as the wars aren't against white people. Attack white people and you're monstrous. Support brown and black people getting killed and we're definitely raising an eyebrow and looking down our nose at the barbarity but still shaking hands on every deal we can make.

Look at the provincial parties in power across the country, it's nearly all conservatives. Then consider we would probably have Poilievre as a PM if not for Trump's 51st state rhetoric, and even with Carney it's basically still conservative policy we're getting. It's a nationwide thing.

Do you not understand what an analogy is? Also, do you not think that replacing management is common in an actual business?

The NDP certainly screwed up badly, but the BC voters screwed up worse.

If you look at the actual voter turnout, it doesn't look so much like people switched as it looks like NDP voters just stayed home. Conservatives got something like 40k fewer votes than last election and the NDP got something like 270k fewer votes.

Scam? He called an election. He didn't cause the unending chaos, infighting and disorganization of the BC Conservatives. They have been doing g all that to themselves for ages. Call it opportunistic, but calling it a scam is pretty ridiculous.

No, it isn't. It's idiotic. This is the equivalent of being unhappy with the manager you hired for your business and deciding to replace them with a bunch of incompetent, untrustworthy, disorganized, bigoted morons fighting over how to run a lemonade stand out on the curb.

Eby has seemed burned out for a while. I don't think he wanted to give the government over to the Conservatives, but a situation where he either wanted a clear majority or wanted out may have been the case.

So many people blaming Eby, but voters decide the election. If BC goes with the Conservatives, it's because of people who vote for them. I wish Eby hadn't called it, but I wish far more that we didn't have so many people choosing to vote for a bunch of nutjobs, bigots, and cynical untrustworthy incompetents. That's where blame belongs if the province flips.
