According to .ml, Chinese workers still own the production through the state. Like, sure, whatever they say. Bad working conditions and low pay is certainly workers being in charge. I think a lot Chinese workers are realising this, so that's why the CCP is stoking nationalism by claiming and militarised an entire body of ocean to distract the public from domestic issues, which .ml dismiss as nothing. Meanwhile, they go "reeeee" when the US attacked Iran and closed off strait of Hormuz.

I mean the social dividend concept is usually a core part of market socialism. But China does it about as well as any other social democracy, just with a lot of extra authoritarianism in between.

Is China really authoritarian? Like based on what?

I mean I'm from a country that has the largest prisoner population of any. Even more than countries with the a much bigger population size like China. We even have legal slavery in prisons. Prisoners here are made to work farms and even fast food restaurants. so maybe I have a high bar for that kind of thing. But every time I hear it I'm like why?

    Yes, reality.

    https://asiasociety.org/policy-institute/decoding-chinese-politics/introduction-black-box-chinese-policy

The US has the official largest prison population, but both China and Russia do not report these figures accurately. For instance, China denies Uyghur detention and instead claims it is just worker retraining. China would have the largest prison population if you counted them.

The worst part of the US is not just its prisons are massive and full, but that they are jam packed with minorities. This is the modern telltale sign that we have been always been a fascist nation. That and an incredible ever growing wealth gap.

The crazy thing is that China is now producing more billionaires than the US. As the above link alluded to they are marching to the right into neoauthoratarianism for awhile now.

Im not going to read that source. I try to avoid CIA funded sources like asiasociety (archived New York times source about its CIA funding)

"The US has the official largest prison population, but both China and Russia do not report these figures accurately. For instance, China denies Uyghur detention and instead claims it is just worker retraining. China would have the largest prison population if you counted them."

Can't say I'd be surprised to find out China and or Russia is lying about their prison population size but what do we have that suggests they are? Like I feel like there is something but I haven't seen it. Just looking for anything more concrete. Preferably not a source funded by a government I already have reason to not believe. I'm really gonna need something to believe they have the biggest prison population of any country.

"The worst part of the US is not just its prisons are massive and full, but that they are jam packed with minorities. This is the modern telltale sign that we have been always been a fascist nation. That and an incredible ever growing wealth gap."

Couldn't agree with this part more comrade.

I found the "yes reality" bit you started with a little obnoxious but I think you are responding honestly and put effort into your reply and we'll I can't really judge for being obnoxious can I? Lol

I'd also wager we would both want similar futures but would disagree more on what is and has been. I'm not looking to be shitty I'm looking for info I might be missing. If you have sources or facts that don't require me to put trust in the USA and what it funds I'd love to see them.

You are never going to find a completely impartial source. I vetted the one I provided for accuracy and I was impressed with its explanation of the complexities of the current Chinese government.

I also found your original question a little flippant, so that is why I gave such a blunt answer. I was not trying to be obnoxious, but I can see how you would think that.

While I postulated China may have more total prisoners, their population is considerably higher than the US. So proportionally to population level,(per capita) I still think the US would be number one.

I don't speak any languages of China so my ability to research primary sources is greatly limited. Having said that, I am about as impartial as they come and I am good at separating the true bits of propaganda from the falsehoods and exaggerations.

I am sure you see things from your perspective and I see them from mine. I personally look at metrics like policies and their results rather than opinions. For me, the biggest indicator of fascism is the wealth gap. In this respect we can see most of the developed world including China is run by monied interests dominated by an inefficient system of late stage capitalism.

Although I appreciate leftist thought and I have marched with the socialists in the past, I no longer feel they can move the needle. Fanciful thoughts of revolution are just that. The reality is any revolution would likely produce a much worse system than we have now. China is a great study of how capitalism can be somewhat efficient at first, but then quickly perverted into a system that has created the biggest wealth gap in history.

There are many possible solutions or ways forwards and the best are ones that serve all parties to some degree. There will always be winners and losers in policy but the test of good policy is is it palatable to the loser.

That totally unbiased source thing is not what I said at all. I said I don't read CIA funded sources. I try not to take governments words about their geopolitical enemies all toy serious because they have motivation to lie. If the CIA is funding it then it's propaganda. I mean while else would they?

You say postulated now but you just asserted that China actually has a bigger prison population. I just asked for evidence.

The wealth gap piece is interesting to me. I've searched around and found a bit on it and how it's rising to levels like the USA. But I didn't find one where they caught up. I'd love to see a non CIA funded one.

Where do you get the idea that a revolution would create something worse than we have now? I've heard it around before but don't revolutions almost always lead to higher standards of living? My biggest concern would be surviving the revolution itself not what comes after. 🤷

While everything is certainly propaganda not everything is CIA propaganda. I find your over reliance on this rhetoric misplaced. Propaganda comes from numerous sources. For instance, the propaganda disseminated from the White House is very different than a CIA campaign in Iran meant to sow discontent.

Knowing the source and what they are trying to convey is paramount in understanding it. Sometimes just the act of communicating itself can relay important information.

I am not sure what evidence you are talking about. Surely you can search per capita world prison population yourself.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_incarceration_rate

Like I said, you can see USA is number 1 with China number 2. China does not officially consider Uyghur detention. If they did it would add possibly one million more to this number bringing China to number 1. I thought I already covered this when I referenced my postulation.

Rising like the USA, that is rich.

    https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4024912/

The fact that you even talk about revolution at this point is all I need to hear. Hey man, I get it. I was once there. I understand.

What we need is practical policy that can be proven to work to be implemented. I don't care if your are a fascist or a communist at this point. What matters is fixing our objectively true problems.

The mobile execution van, for me and many people in America, fits in the same category as above. "At least I would get healthcare and roads and a place to live."

In fact, I think the vans in China specifically are better than the American execution squads. At least in China they are publicly named for the purpose and there is a public trial.

In America you never know if this one today is going to execute you or not, and if they do it's without arrest or trial. It's just some unaccountable badge who's pissed off and can't get to his wife to take it out on because he's at work.

Which part of America do you live in, exactly? Because I looked out the window and there's no roving bands of murder cops deciding who's going to get blown away that day.
I mean yes you do see a lot of stuff on the news about cops shooting people for no reason (ACAB,) the last thing I'm going to do is defend the police. But there's a big difference between a cop shooting someone for a reason which may or may not be justified, and the state sending a van to your house to kill you. Those two things are not the same, and in no univese is the van better than the alternative.

May or may not be justified?! I'm sure some of the people China targets also "may or may" have deserved it in the exact same way!

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but we do have roving bands of murder cops who decide who to kill on a whim. We have literal gangs who hunt down and murder people for fun in our largest and most liberal cities, and cops from small towns are somehow even more terrifying. It is absolutely tone deaf to think our cops are a gotcha against any country.

If anything, the most disappointing thing about China is how well they seem to be following our playbook. Most of the evil things they do were done worse by America, and with everything in China that is genuinely worse than the US, we're quickly catching up. You cannot whataboutism China as an American; the US isn't even the winning side anymore.

No, the police are not "murdering people for fun." The cops ARE shooting people when it's not justified, and getting away with it. The way you're describing it is like it's out of a movie or something. You're literally ingesting all of the bad news that props up the 24hr news cycle and assuming real life is like an episode of Daredevil or something.
See, this puts me in the shitty position of actually having to defend the cops, which I will not do (because All Cops Are Bastards.) But I will say cops do not just blow people away "for the fun of it." That is simply not true.
And you know what else they don't do? Come to your house with a van, drag you outside, and kill you via lethal injection so your ogans can be harvested and sold on the black market. No, this evil thing is not "done worse by America." This is real life, not a movie.

I'm most familiar with LA's history of police gangs, but my understanding is they are not a total outlier. If anything, movies consistently downplay just how bad our police actually are, even when they take a critical stance on them. The copaganda is so pervasive that even people who dislike cops underestimate just how dire things are.

It's really upsetting that you're basically denying the lived reality of so many marginalized groups. I've met people who refuse to say ACAB that are less ignorant about our cops than you.

You understand that saying something positve about a person or institution does not mean you defend every single bad/illegal thing said person or institution has ever done, correct?

Not the one you live in. Clearly. It's closer to me than "a lot of stuff on the news" so I can't be so flippant about it. But, I can understand how if they're both just distant cries because the cops don't target you, you fear the one that has been yelled at you more in the news.

Edit: just out of curiosity I wanted to see the percentage of the population executed by China in a year. It's .00017143%

Cops in America kill .00038421% of the population every year. That's more than twice as many. Ice disappeared 4,000 people this last year, before they changed how it was recorded on their website so we couldn't track them like that anymore. That's .00104167%, a whole order of magnitude more than China.

Again, clearly it doesn't involve you, so I'm sure you don't care, but there's the facts.

In real life China accounts for an estimated 50% to 70% of all executions in the entire world. It's estimated because the actual number is not known, because China treats the number of people executed as a state secret. But it's not disputed that China executes more people than all of the other countries in the world combined.
in 2022, it's estimated China executed 8,000 people.
In 2022, there were 1,176 police shooting deaths in the United States.

Why compare raw numbers when China has over 4x the population? I mean, we know why you're doing it, but will you say so?

Anyway, 2022 was before the pedophile Nazis fucked the rails off the American system. Now compare numbers for 2025 for both countries and count every police street execution, and every human "missing" from ice custody. And use a third party for those numbers, don't trust America's reporting of it. Just like with China.

Also, as an aside, I'd like to point out that China executes billionaires and corrupt party officials. Can you name a single billionaire or wealthy person or lifetime politician in America who has been executed? Can you name one who served 10 years in prison? How about 4 years? How about 2 years? In this decade? In your lifetime?

The fact that anyone could look around at the pedonazifucks running America and having innocent teachers and nurses executed in the street without provocation or trial, and say bbbbb Choinah bad! Is crazy, and really points to the severity of the split between the type of Americans protected and served by this system, and the type of Americans crushed and destroyed by it.

Why compare raw numbers when China has over 4x the population?

Because it's wrong and misleading to try and claim that the police in the United states kill more people than the government of China executes, when in real life it's less than a fourth.
Also, we don't even know how many civilian deaths from police occur in China every year, because they don't even bother to record that information.

I mean, we know why you’re doing it, but will you say so?

I'm doing it becacuse what you're saying is simply not true. I am in no way defending the police in America. ACAB. What I am saying is this idea that cops drive around and "shoot people for fun" is complete horseshit

Anyway, 2022 was before the pedophile Nazis fucked the rails off the American system. Now compare numbers for 2025 for both countries and count every police street execution, and every human “missing” from ice custody. And use a third party for those numbers, don’t trust America’s reporting of it. Just like with China.

America: 1,314 shooting deaths, according to Mapping Police Violence.
China: Unknown, becasue China does not record how many civlian deaths are caused by police, because they're a totalitarian dictatorship where such things that embarass the government are supressed.

Where exactly are cops going around, lining up teachers and nurses, and executing them in the streets? Are you referring to the victims that ICE have killed? You understand that ICE ARE NOT POLICE OFFICERS, right? I am not defending the police, or ICE, or the fascist pieces of shit that took over my country (ACAB.) What I am doing is saying that you're out of your mind if you think the cops are just executing people in the street, and if you think it's bad here then China is five times worse.

The best part has been watching over the last year as America goes mask-off. The America heads used to just label every source counter to their narrative, "enemy propaganda" and every fact too obvious, "the past". This leaves very little, like the fact that America has the world's largest prison population by far, but they're mostly POC so no America heads care.

Now though, it's the present, the source is your eyes and ears all around you, and you end up "not counting" what you see and hear.

'China doesn't even record those statistics because they are a fascist dictatorship who doesn't record things that embarrass them. Yes, I know ice and the current federal regime are doing that too, but again I don't count them'🤣🤣🤣

I'm guessing you know absolutely zero about China's healthcare system, which is a complete shit show for most people. People line up outside hospitals every morning with bribes to get seen. And even then, healthcare is restricted by caste. This is not some condemnation of universal healthcare with long wait times either - it's a criticism of specifically China's healthcare system, where priority is literally based on bribes and caste.
